Samsung Smart TV's - directv app

Hello, I recently purchased 4 Samsung smart tv's. ( 2020's) and I was told when I purchased them that I could download the "Directv" app to the tv's and not have to hook up the genie boxes. I have looked in the app store and the "Directv" app is not there.  Can anyone help me please.

You should ask whoever told you about the (non-existent) DirectV app where to find it.  DIRECTV doesn't support streaming to TVs or streaming devices.

There is an AT&T TV app, but that is not the same thing.  You would have to disconnect your DIRECTV account and switch to the AT&T TV plan.

@bratche

DirecTV is TV by satellite and you pay for each authorized TV on the service. The app is only for on a mobile device, not on a TV (or even casting to TV) as is not intended for that purpose.

To watch on the TV it must have a receiver or client. Some TVs are "DirecTV Ready" where they have a RVU Client built-in, but still must be installed on the service and pay the TV/Client fee. It is not simply an app to download.

So whomever informed you just said whatever they could to make the sale or at best doesn't understand how the TV's RVU Client works.

No, you still need a main Genie box and Ethernet plug from the Wireless Video Bridge. Anyway, you would still need to pay $7/month for that particular TV I believe, correct me if I'm wrong @Juniper

You pay $7 for each additional TV regardless of what model box, or if RVU Client of the TV. It is paying for the TV being authorized, not the equipment itself.

The wireless video bridge (WVB) doesn't apply in this case. That is only for wireless Mini Genie Clients (C41W or C61W). A TV with an RVU Client, what the sales agent 'might' have been referring to, does not connect wirelessly. But yes a main Genie would be needed regardless if Mini Genie (wired or wireless), or DirecTV Ready RVU TV, as those are all Clients, not receivers, so cannot work by themselves.

I read somewhere that you could no longer get an RVU activated.  Don't know if that's true or not, but I read it on the Internet.  (I think it was signed A. Lincoln.).
