Sound stays on laptop when casting to Chromecast
Casting from the DTV online player (satellite service, not streaming) to a Chromecast and audio stays on the laptop while picture is fine on TV. Casting from every other source I use works just fine, it is only DTV that this happens. Huge (Edited per community guidelines)!

DirecTV does not allow casting. It is not supposed to work. The fact you have it partially working is lucky.
You pay for each authorized TV on the service. Streaming perks are secondary, only intended on a small (smaller than a normal TV anyway) mobile screen. Casting to TV would violate their billing model and open up for account sharing which is against the Terms of Service (ToS).

How is that possible? Any tab I have open in Chrome can be cast to Chromecast. How can DTV affect that? I mean the easy workaround is to HDMI my laptop to the tv, but casting is just easier.

It is the way DirecTV has been setup. Once in a while someone gets it to work partially or temporarily, but eventually updates catch up and casting doesn't work again.
Bottom line, they don't want you getting a free TV on the service, even if you aren't account sharing.
