Unable to Stream Live TV on Windows Device
I have never been able to stream many of the channels that should be available for streaming on a Windows laptop with Chrome. Oddly, I can stream a very few channels, so the video player and streaming underpinnings are working. There doesn't seem to be a particular pattern in the channels that do work. For example, I can stream ESPN HD and CNN HD just fine, but not MSNBC. For most channels, including MSNBC, I see this error message: "To tune to this show, your Computer must be joined to the same Wi-Fi network as your receiver." As reported in numerous other posts in this forum, the computer is indeed joined to the same WiFi network as the DirecTv gateway. Besides that, why is it that I can stream anywhere, from any WiFi network, when I use the DirecTv app on my iPad? Why should I be limited to streaming from a particular WiFi network for the Windows OS?
The marketing claim that you can stream DirecTv from anywhere on any device is a sham. It simply is not true. Support for Windows devices has gone away.
I opened a support case over a month ago. It was escalated to a phantom escalation team that has never contacted me. I have checked numerous times with first level support and have always told that communications with the tech specialists for escalated support are a "one-way" communication. I cannot contact them and the first level support reps cannot contact them, either. In essence, escalated technical support has now completely gone away, and there is not even a recourse to lodge a complaint for management attention. That has also completely gone away. I guess it's up to all of us to get out the word on social media.

After over a month of trying, I finally got everything to work. I had problems installing the video player because the hidden URL for the download during the installation process did not use an SSL connection. The browser will not allow that to happen due to security risk. I had tried clearing cookies several times before, but apparently not since the video player was installed and recognized. I went into the Chrome 'Privacy and security' settings and clicked 'Cookies and other site data.' Then I searched for all cookies containing 'directv' and deleted them. I restarted the browser and everything now works.

Believe me, teetertotter, I have done all of that. I have scoured the forums and done everything that anyone ever suggested. I have the best anti-virus money can buy and I have tried Bing and Internet Explorer. Again, Windows is not supported for streaming any longer, and you can see any number of posts. Keep in mind that I can stream some channels but not others, which already rules out problems with connectivity, the video player and the browser. YOURS WAS NOT AN ACCEPTED ANSWER, but thanks for trying.
The iPad uses the DirecTv app, not a browser. I have no trouble using the DirecTv app on iPad and iPhone.
