Trying to start a vacation hold. SOOOO hard to find answers to questions! This should be an easy 1 or 2 step action. I have been on the computer for 10 minutes and still do not have the answer to my question.
To temporarily suspend your DIRECTV® service, call us at 800.531.5000. What to know before you suspend service: You must suspend the account for at least 30 days and no longer than 9 months.
The 9 months is new. Used to be max 6 months. After all if you were off for more than half a year you really weren't a customer. But the last couple years probably influenced them changing that.

You need to call DIRECTV (Number in my greeting below) to put your account on vacation. You can do so but the minimum is 30 days.

You have to call DirecTV. It is called suspending service. AT&T added the "Vacation Hold" term in relation to the small monthly fee they added in.
