What has changed on 101

The setup in my shop uses an 18" oval antenna, R22 (with HD) receiver, no B Band converter, and a smart TV.. All of a sudden I have noticed both on the guide and on the front of the Sat box that Channels 202, 354 and 360 are being received in 720p ...  the guide lists both 360 and 360HD.. The same thing happens when I use the same setup as listed above but am connected to a Winegard GM 1518 antenna.. Not complaining about the much better picture on these channels, but just curious about the future..

There is no future for MPEG2 SD channels as DTV is shutting them down, the only channels that will be on the 101 will be in MPEG4 and right now there are only 4.  720 is HD, DTV has no control over what the channels send them or in what format.

DirecTV is shutting down their MPEG-2/SD-only feeds. Need a slimiline SWM dish or the Winegard Trav'ler for the mobile option.

Guide showing both 360 and 260HD means you are set to "Show All Channels". Go into Menu > Settings & Help > Settings > Guide HD Channels and change to "Hide SD Duplicates". That way you don't get those double channels when they have both an SD and HD version.

Awesome you have the R22. That is the special model, essentially an HR22 in hiding. Not required to replace it with the MPEG-2 shutdown, unless that was the only model you had.
