Wireless genie in backyard looses signal constantly

Our main genie is in our family room. The wireless genie is located on our patio in backyard which is in range to main genie according to our Direct tv installer. We get coverage there but constantly loose signal while watching any tv show. We have a wifi booster that we have tried placing in various rooms closer to the area where problem tv is and it does not help the wireless outdoor genie. Please help. We want to enjoy this tv.
our indoor genie has no issues.
Thank you,

Mary Ann

You need to add another WVB closer to that mini.  The WVB sets up a separate WiFi network so regular WiFi extenders don't work.

I would suggest you get another D*TV Wireless bridge and put it closer to your Backyard --D*TV S Wireless Receivers on talk on the D*TV Wireless Network --(DOES NOT USE YOUR HOME WIRELESS NETWORK)) that is your issue.

Hi @Maryvigg. Thanks @teetertotter for providing some useful tips! We're happy to help with your wireless equipment.

Wireless devices have a maximum range, and several factors can impact the maximum distance possible:
- The wireless video bridge and the wireless mini should be placed no further than 80 feet apart and have no more than 5 internal walls between them.
- Walls and other barriers can degrade the signal that can impact the maximum distances.
- Concrete, Brick, Stone or other high density material can limit the range for the wireless signal.

Resetting your video bridge may help fix some issues:
1. Unplug the power cord on the wireless video bridge and plug it back in.
2. After 10 seconds, the LED blinks blue.
3. After 2 minutes, the LED should be solid blue.
4. Wireless video bridge is now reset. It may take up to five minutes for the wireless mini to get video.

I had the same problem with my wireless miniGenies constantly losing signal.

even though some of the wireless mini Genies were only 15-20ft feet away in the next room or in the room directly above or blow from where the modem and bridge equipment was placed. It was a total hassle going thru the reconnecting process at least 4 to 5 times a week. Only solution was to go all wired miniGenie clients

There are no wireless boosters for DirecTV equipment. It is a separate wireless network that will not use your home network at all.

The wireless video bridge (WVB) has up to 80 feet range under ideal conditions. Wall, other wireless signals, etc. can reduce or interfere with the signal. Having your WVB moved, or another one installed if you have multiple wireless Clients, may be the option to keep the Client mobile.

I personally will stick with a wired connection to avoid those issues. Plus Clients are the only box with a wireless version and I prefer a dedicated receiver and HDDVR.
