Direct TV pop up ad invasion in my screen!
I'm sure you've all seen it. It's a DTV ad, complete with banners, flashes and all the usual irritants. I thot we were paying for the service. Therefore, we should absolutely not have to tolerate this happening on our own platform.
perhaps many of you just ignore the obnoxious ads, they are harming your eyes and brain even so.
the blowup of screen time hasn't even begun to be studied yet, but it's real none the less.
They even allow it in my private dvr area, making that not private either.
You will know the ad when you see it, it comes up after about a 10 second pause. They never give us any peace. The wallpapers are beautiful however, and they should not be interrupted by this ad.
If this ad even slightly annoys you, please like or comment this post. DTV will remove it if their paying customers object. I hope I'm not alone in disliking having ads take over my screen.
commercials are something we have to live with, and we have options about those too. Watch a pay channel.
but this ad barges into everything! It's like an internal spyware!
They could also offer more settings to personalize our watching experience. These pop ups hurt my eyes.
LETS BAN TOGETHER AND REQUEST ITS REMOVAL, please. Thank you.

Get a life! They all have ads. Not happy, then change services.

This is more than an ad, and I just changed services, thank you very much. I don't appreciate you telling me to get a life. You do not know my situation.
I am vision challenged and elderly, life is hard when you are disabled and elderly. This particular ad is very bothersome. I am new to streaming, and just trying to see what others think.
i guess we know what you think. 🤔

The only times I see ads are when I pause tv and on some on-demand content. Not a big deal

The only way to get rid of pop up ads is to reset the dvr. I tried rewinding changing the channels and nothing worked. I even tripped the gfi in the garage were the receiver is connected and it didn’t work. GET RID OF THE POP UP ADS! Its been stuck for a half hour and tried EVERYTHING until I reset the receiver. Pain in the (Edited per community guidelines)!

Changing the "power saving" setting (dig through menu options) to "off" will change the delay on the screen saver from about 30 seconds to about 5 minutes (instead of turning it off entirely, as it should). If you want to turn off the screen saver entirely, you have to disconnect from the internet using your main receiver. I know that that's not a great solution because you may need the internet for some features that you use.
I have reported one inappropriate ad and the incorrect functionality of the "power saver" setting to DirecTV. The agent understood the report and also said that many others have complained about the inappropriate ad. So, perhaps, DirecTV will actually do something about it.

mjtoleno... you say "...you have to disconnect from the internet using your main receiver..."
That advice doesn't seem to make sense as this forum is about the streaming service, not the satellite service. (Granted you do say that is not a "great solution", but I don't think disconnecting from the internet is something that should be suggested for a streaming service.)

Power saver and screen saver have nothing to do with each other. Copying your post into multiple threads (against the forum guidelines) will not change that.
Power saver allows your box to go to 'sleep' after 4 hours of innactivity. Just like when you tell it to go off.
Screen saver has no menu option. It is there according to DirecTV's programming and is not adjustable. The only flexibility is if you disconnect from internet, it will eventually rervert from the advertisement and landscape screen saver back to the traditional logo one.
That's how it works. There is no option for us customers to change it.
Also, this is DIRECTV STREAM. Next time instead of popping inot old threads (some years old), create a new thread in the correct section for DirecTV (satellite).
