DTV stream in a browser
Why can I only watch DTV Stream on one browser? Sometimes I want to watch two programs at once. For instance a sports channel and the news. It can't be done on stream. Or my wife might want to watch in another room using a computer. It can't be done. I was a Directv user for years and I always thought that they did the best job. I haven't found a streamer yet as good. Why wasn't this experience ported to DTV stream?

Clearly they are using cookies to track the stream information. If you try to use two tabs in the same browser, or two (non incognito) windows of the same browser, they will share the same set of cookies and you can only have one stream among them. As others have found, using different browsers, or an incognito window, gives you different cookie storage and thus you can stream multiple streams.

Thanks, Now DirecTV knows what the problem is. There has to be a better way.

May I ask if you already tried to open a incognito tab or use another browser for the second tab, since two tabs on the same browser would be sharing the same cache and the same activity.
Let us know how it goes, we are going to be here for you.

Uh, no. Web technology is what it is. The percentage of their customer base that will see this as an issue is less than 1%. Each incognito window should be isolated from all others, so create as many as you want (subject to the limits on streaming and the capability of your system).

Other streamers must be attempting to do the same thing. If so then why does their systems allow this? Why would they need cache on my system? I can see them using cookies but that doesn't mean that they shouldn't allow this. If they really need cache why would it continue to work when I clear cache? I may have found a way to do it --clear cookies after starting first instance -- I have only had it running a couple of minutes but it is working.

Yes I can run incognito or a different browser and I will only if I have to, but I won't be happy. In Windows 11 I have multiple desktops so I could run different browsers in each. That could be one solution.

Different desktops insight your PC/Laptop might be a good option to watch DIRECTV STREAM using Google Chrome or Microsoft Edge. Keep in mind, your account will show you different programming when it recognizes you are using a different device. In this case, the browsers might count as a device.
Please let us know how it goes.

We want to follow up on you. Have you had the chance to use multiple desktops on your computer as you suggested yesterday?
Please let us know how it turned out.

If I use a different browser they work fine. Also I checked Paramount+, Friendly TV, Amazon, FUBO, YoutubeTV, and HULU all allow two tabs to run programs. Also I can start DT Stream then remove cookies and start another. I don't know what would happen long term but I allowed them to run for a couple of minutes without a problem.

The multiple desktops in windows 11 work great as long as I use a different browser or browser running in incognito on each desktop. I have run Chrome, Chrome Canary and firefox on 3 different desktops and I have a mouse that has extra programmable buttons and I set two of them to switch desktops. I had no problems running three at a time.
Not everyone has windows 11 yet.

Why can't I get my streaming to work on my dell laptop? I have download the Video Guard software and it still doesn't work. I can see the guide and when I click a station it opens but nothing comes on. Help and thanks.

Yes. I've tried Chrome and Edge. It worked yesterday and today it's not working. It's so frustrating. Thanks for any other suggestions.

Maybe clear cache and cookies, or reboot. I haven't had this problem.

@dowilke1
To be clear do you have DirecTV (satellite service) or DIRECTV STREAM (streaming-only)?
