Volume jumps in the middle of programming
I signed up for DirecTV last month so I could cancel my Verizon FiOS service. I had thought that DirecTV was known for having the best audio and video compared to the competing services. However, the volume jumps in the middle of TV shows are incredibly annoying; this bug will be a deal-breaker for me if it isn't addressed in an update this month. We have installed the DirecTV app on four Apple TV boxes connected to four different TVs. Stereo Only makes no difference. TV audio processing is disabled, so there is no compression happening on my end. The jump occurs during uninterrupted programming, including mid-sentence during news broadcasts. Changing channels and immediately changing back always restores the correct level. If left alone, the level returns to normal within about five minutes. This morning, I had 3 jumps within an hour while watching ABC.

Has this happened since you signed up, or just recently?

It happened on the second day of my 5-day trial. I thought it was a weird anomaly that would stop happening or that I could fix later. But it happens daily on all four of our TVs. Using ChatGPT, I researched what was happening and tried all the suggested solutions. Apparently, it's a known bug, and the only workaround is to switch channels. I'm trying to make notes to see if it happens only on some channels.

Thanks for flagging this, @eatapc. Our team is now investigating the inconsistent volume, and we'll circle back once updates are available. John, DIRECTV Community Team

So far today, it has happened on ABC (three times in the middle of a person talking) and on TNT (just now, in the middle of a point in the tennis match). I have a feeling it's not restricted to just a few channels. Switching channels back and forth fixed the issue in all cases. I hope the DirecTV engineers can figure out the problem. Thanks.
