Why is DirecTV blocking my Sinclair owned ABC channel??

Hello, I decide to give YouTube TV a chance. While watching my local Sinclair owned ABC channel discussing the DirecTV feud on our evening News, they broadcasted that they were owned by Sinclair and would not be blocked by direct.

I quickly switched over to my DirecTV stream account but to no avail as the contract with Disney screen is still being shown.

Could someone from direct please respond to why WLOS in Asheville North Carolina is being blocked even though it is not owned by Disney.

Thanks

I certainly can’t answer (and doubt that anyone who could officially answer will, especially here).  However, my local ABC affiliate (also not an O & O) is blocked too.  It could be an error on DTV’s part, but I think that a bit unlikely.  I’d guess that either ABC/Disney’s carriage contract with DTV or ABC/Disney’s affiliate contract (that is, their contact with their own affiliates) requires affiliates to block access if the network does.

One thing I know for sure is that Directv Sat. service still has its ABC channels at least the ones that are not directly owned by Disney Corp. So what I am thinking is that streaming is somehow under the umbrella of the Disney Parent Company and hence the blackout.  Because my local ABC station is not owned by Disney I am blacked out as well. I know this to be the case as I have family that live a few minutes from me and they have Directv Sat. and they still have their ABC channel and I do not.

That or something similar may well be the case, because my local ABC station is also not blocked on U-Verse, which is technically somewhere between cable and steaming but works under cable rules.  All the Disney properties are gone, however.

Tiger makes sense.. my local must be blocked on stream and still available on Sat .

It depends on the contract.

It appears ABC is blocked on DirecTV Stream, per the contract.

My U-Verse still gets my Sinclair ABC.
