Loss of channels

AT&T has failed to properly prepare for the  anticipated end of contract negotiation with Nexstar - resulting in the loss of ABC station, a MAJOR network. This continues to happen, as in the past, when other channels were removed from the lineup - as your customers continue to pay increased costs in service. We set up another TV(purchased an antennae) that would give us this basic channel for the interim - assuming we will get the channel back at some time in the future!  I think it's time to contact other providers who can provide continuing service that we PAY for and don't get with AT&T.

Read the TOS and the clause that states channels and programs are subject to change at anytime so there are no "guaranteed" channels, all providers have the same clause. That is what they are doing.

Whether it's the owners or DirecTV, these channels are not being included in

needs to renegotiate their agreements.

Do some careful research before switching, Dish Networks is currently in a dispute with Fox-owned stations. All providers have to deal with this craziness. Greedy corporate station owners are killing the traditional cable/satellite industry. Customers are dropping their subscriptions due to high rates, yet station owners continually demand more money for stations that fewer and fewer are watching. It's a death spiral.

Western Washington does have fox and can watch seahawks on Directv. They also have NBC. I have been your customer for 4 years, and an AT&T customer since 2003. You play games with our channels, never discount our bills, and it goes on for months. You are about a week from losing me as a customer to BOTH Directv and AT&T. This is the worst customer service I have ever had. I have several other options. I am all about letting people know just how poor this experience is.

Huh? I'm in Western Washington and don't have any missing channels.

Did you read my post?

Yes, Directv can block it, how else do you explain an over air antenna through Directv still not picking up NBC, but picking up every other over air station?

I can get NBC at anyone's house I try it over air except when it's connected to a Directv receiver.

Directv also claims they will provide a DNS, but they still have not done so. Making me believe that it's because Directv doesn't actually stick to their directvpromise.

1. No, DirecTV cannot block an off-air signal. Either something is wrong with your local NBC station transmitter, or you're antenna simply can't pick it up. If you connect your antenna directly to your TV, do you get that station?

2. DirecTV is not allowed to deliver DNS channels without waivers from your own local stations. Several years ago the FCC considered allowing cable/satellite TV providers to deliver a DNS station when local stations get greedy and demand more money, but that went nowhere.

Unless he had a typo he said "Western Washington DOES have fox and CAN watch..." indicating he is in another area where channel is pulled so doesn't understand why Western Washington can watch something he cannot.

If ever such a day (unlikely) comes that people have to start paying these channels directly, then they will change their tune once they realize where the issue actually comes from.

So you would rather DirecTV cave to the local affiliate and have us customer accept that much more increase on our bill? Sorry but many of us don't want to have more money going to locals that are free over the regular airways. I didn't go to pay TV for my free locals so am against their rate hikes.

Remember Dish, or any other TV provider, cannot promise you any specific channel (local or otherwise) will always be there. The channel owns the broadcast rights so can choose the pull the feed and the TV provider cannot stop them.

Will I get a discount on my bill due to your lack of providing me these two channels?   4 straight weeks without them is unbelievably frustrating.

That is exactly what is going on, their previous agreement expired and they are negotiating a new one. Directv will gladly continue carrying channels during negotiations. The station owner is the one who decided to pull it. This happens to every provider, including Dish. You say you’ve been a customer since ‘95? If this has never happened before, that means they have renewed agreements many times before without issues.

So DirectTv and our local Fox station channel 28 can't agree on terms so we cannot get Fox out of Cedar Rapids, IA.  We see Fox on Sportsmix today but cannot make the screen larger, how can we make this work? Really tired of no Fox station and considering switching to cable. Seems like Direct TV could switch us to another market (Rochester,MN ?) Until they resolve their money issues.

What exactly happens when you tune directly to those channels?  On-screen message?

What DVR/Receiver models do you have? Do they all do this?

I just got back from vacation and was told by my neighbor that Directv is loosing all Fox Sports channels.  I watch my college basketball etc there.  I will change to change companies after almost 30 years with directv if they do that.  Anyone know?  I get no answers from Directv.

DTV isn't losing anything, the channel owners removed the feed.  All providers have this problem so have fun moving again.
