Network settings have changed please restart system.

So I finally got my replacement wireless stb.  An isb7105 + a vap2500 that replaced my vip2500+ven501.

But the "new" stb 7105 keeps getting multiple a network settings has changed restart system messsages. Every day.

How do I fix this? Do I need another replacement stb? Does the new wap need to be replaced?

Is there anything else they can do to fix it?

Please help! I just can't afford to spend anymore hours on the phone with useless tech support.

There has to be a way to get to tier 2 or domestic representatives?!

Thanks for any help.

Maybe @ATTCares Will finally care? And stop ignoring me?

@madmax988 some modems and boxes don't agree with each other. I've had that happen twice. The first time the tech figured out what was going on while he was here and had to switch the modem out for another one which was the same model after he replaced the box. The 2nd time I had issues like this the first tech that came out replaced just the box which made things work ok for a few days. The 2nd tech didn't believe what I already described about the first time which was about a year and a half before had even happened so he just replaced the box which happened to make everything work ok while he was there. A couple hours later the issues started yet again which at that point I was pretty peeved at the whole situation along with how I was treated by that 2nd tech.

I made contact with AT&T again using social media as an aside I've noticed that the responses by AT&T reps here have decreased a lot over the past few years.I think at that time my ordeal was going on I was using Facebook to do it but now I find contacting them on Twitter by private message gets a quicker response. If you use either one of those sites look for their ATT page on Facebook to send a message and/or ATTHelp on Twitter. After I wrote a well worded stern complaint about the situation and requested it to be escalated they sent another tech along with a supervisor out. I got really lucky that the tech was the one who had come out the first time over a year before and remembered doing so. He replaced the modem along with the box and things have been working since TV wise at least.

I'm having issues with my internet right now which I'm trying to get straightened out. I called a few days ago and even though my call was answered quickly it didn't result in any actual help with the current situation other then to tell me to keep my phone lines open for whenever there's time to install the bonded pair I was approved for. There's more to it then that and I waited a week after being approved and the date I was told I'd be contacted had past. I'm going to follow up on Twitter now that I have time.

Sorry for the novel!

@ATTCares

Ok so I'm starting to think this AT&T equipment just doesn't work.  Or maybe they pushed an update that broke it.

Tech came out to my house.

Mind you before I start this, I've had 2 wireless stb's and the same wap working just fine for many years, and I've never had a problem, and nothing in my house changed that should affect signal

She replaced my gateway that was whining with a bgw210.

She swapped the refurb isb7105 for an isb7005, which she said was more reliable.

She added a longer ethernet cord to the "new" vap2500 WAP. so I could move it further from my access point to reduce interference (and closer to the wireless stbs).  (I also doubt my AP, has any effect on the signal, because it's on a very different channel, and when I unplug the AP it doesn't change anything).  That gets wireless stb up to about 3-4 bars, (it's always 5 bars in the other room that has less walls in the way).  Say's she'll come back and replace wap if i keep having problems.

The wireless stb still only gets 1 bar at times.  I discover if I unplug WAP, and plug it back in, then I get 3-4 bars for a few hours-2 days, then it drops back to 1 red bar.  I get 5 bars at first if I move wap to a high shelf in the middle of the room with cord in a really awkward place draped across.

She keeps saying she'll come the next day for 3 days, never shows, keeps saying she got jobs on otherside of town.  Then she goes radio silent.  I call her manager who's # is on her voicemail.  He eventually calls back and says she's been sick.  Says he'll send someone on monday.  Monday neither of them answer.  Tuesday she finally answers, sends some newbie who knows absolutely nothing to replace wap.  (he told me WAPs are 2.4ghz only and that I could have 4 tvs on a WAP, I'm fairly confident both of those things are wrong).

He gives me back a Ven501.  I also swapped the isb7005 into the room that doesn't have signal issues, and put the old vip2500 in the bad room, since I know the other vip2500 that was in there worked for years.  It gets me up to 3-4 bars, as long as nobody walks in between the path between WAP and wireless stb.  I move the WAP up to the high shelf and get 5 bars, figure I'll give in and run an ugly extension cord and the cat 5 along the ceiling to the bookshelf.....that works for a few days.....Then boom back down to 1 red bar. Unplug WAP, plug WAP back in, right back to 5 bars of signal. So now all the equipments been replaced, and the problem still isn't solved.  Could it be a line issue?  I have noticed about 11 seconds of errored seconds 4 days, a couple thousand FEC errors, and couple hundred CRC errors.

Any other ideas of what I should try?

@madmax988, has the dvr ever been replaced? Have you tried a whole system reboot since you got the bgw210? Factory reset the bgw210?

@browndk26

Yes I have done multiple full system reboots since getting the bgw210.

The DVR hasn't been replaced.  But if the DVR was the issue wouldn't the other wireless stb also be having issues?  It never drops below 5 bars of signal.

@madmax988, I thought your were having stb issues. I was under the impression the dvr controlled the stb’s. In the past, rebooting my dvr fixed wireless stb problems. So flaky stb’s could be a dvr problem. Some of the att techs here can correct me about this if I’m wrong. Try getting att to send you a replacement dvr.  If they will, swap it with your current dvr for a few days. See if the problems go away. If they do it’s the dvr. Another option is temporarily connect your Wireless stb’s via cat5 to the gateway. See how they operate wired.  Replacing the dvr means losing all recordings on it so be aware of that. If you weren’t already.

Att techs, please confirm if my comments above are correct.

I'm aware I'll lose recordings which is why replacing my DVR would be my last resort especially this time of year with new shows on.  If I'm going to get stuck having to spend a ton to buy shows online I might as well cancel att.

The problem only effects 1 room and it doesn't matter which wireless stb is in that room.  Resetting the wap fixes the problem.  I'm honestly considering just plugging the wap into a smart outlet with a timer and programming it to turn off and on once every 24 hours.  That would probably solve my problem.  It's a clunky solution that makes no sense, but it seems like it would solve the problem.

The only thing that makes sense logically at this point is att having some bug in the software.  It does seem to be worse between midnight-4am if that matters.
