Many sponsors have paid NBC for airtime. What would all those commercials do if they find out that they paid out thousands and thousands of dollars for airtime and they are not being aired on NBC! What do you think all those sponsors would do? Probably because they didn't look up to see who owned the local stations for your address. Sales agents of any company are not going to go looking for problems in case it costs them a sale.
Even if you were to call DirecTV for an official response they couldn't tell you more as they are not inside that other agent's head.

That would be assuming the advertisers pay based on how many TV providers the station has an agreement with. They are still aired as the station has not gone through a complete shutdown, just negotiation with AT&T.
Also, what makes you think that advertisers have no idea that those stations are going through negotiations at this time?

Instead of a price adjustment I will just go to another company. It is ridiculous we are being charged for free channels anyway. Verizon has been trying to make me a customer for years for Fios and now I am going to go for it. I have internet & phone service with them & instead of making my payment a priority for directv i will treat them like they are doing their customers right now & make it a priority for Verizon to be my service provider. They only kept us as a customer due to the football package but it is not worth it anymore plus Verizon has other options that I can consider for that package.

You will be charged for those free channels with any provider. They don't get the channels free, they have to pay the networks to carry them, even locals.
Wonder how long until it is Fios's turn to negotiate with Nexstar.

Most of the younger members of my family use a small antenna in their windows, which gets them a large variety of channels for FREE. They tell us to go that way, but we are older and set in our ways about the channels we prefer. We received the antenna from ATT, BUT, since the tech couldn't get our next door neighbors antenna from ATT to bring in the missing local channels, he suggested we not go through the effort since it probably will not get NBC, for us, Channel 3 and sister station, 36. So, until further instructions, we will leave it in the box. Carolyn H
What a stupid reply. I don't want to watch other channels I want to watch what I pay for. What an insensitive response. Really? I am furious that I'm not able to watch the shows then I'm used to watching and new season starts this next month. Shame on you.

You are not paying for any specific channels guaranteed. All current DirecTV packages include access to locals, but in no way promise that any specific channel will always be there. As such you are getting what you pay for.
So in the meantime you either watch other channels you have, or use a regular antenna to get the free over-the-air (OTA) broadcast, until the negotiations complete. This is just the reality of the situation, no shame in understanding that.

I am spreading the word. We need to notify the advertising companies that have paid air time on NBC for their commercials and they are not being played. So basically companies paid NBC and NBC is not living up to their
So wait, NBC is not coming back? Ever? Is this a joke AT&T? It's a free channel, how is this happening? All the shows are coming back next month! Do something!
