DIRECTV dropping OANN?

If DIRECTV cancels OAN, I will cancel my subscription.

I am displeased with Direct TV dropping OAN. We should be able to decide what we choose is appropriate for us. This is an awful attempt at silencing those you don’t agree with. SHAMEFUL!

I have not said anything condescending. I am often blunt in my responses but am straight forward and honest with my replies. Most of the time I try to remain neutral on a situation to give a realistic and productive perspective.

You can certainly respond to posts in general. As mentioned, your original thread got migrated into an older one. That I believe was an error as would make more sense to have migrated into this thread, the central location for the OAN discussion. That migration only means you cannot respond back in the prior thread and instead post in this one.

I stand by the "vicious cycle". From my perspective it is just a turnaround from when OAN was added. People complained hard about OAN being added with having the opposing view of those now complaining that OAN is not being renewed. I am not saying that either adding or removing OAN is the best way to go, only that with a situation like this you do not have an answer that will satisfy everybody. Again, this is nothing to do with the decision itself that DirecTV made, but the people's reaction to it just like before. That was not saying that you personally were to that extreme, only that the situation has caused a lot of people to get quite vocal.

I appreciate a variety of news channels. But I have no attachment to any in particular, so OAN arriving and leaving was just like any other channel.

I will be CANCELING my Directv, I have been a customer for OVER 20 years....

I was simply pointing out an option. There are services like klowdtv that offer a small streaming service to where you could add it, no matter what TV provider you have. For some that is an appropriate solution to use as an add-on.

For others they will change providers completely if they cannot handle DirecTV no longer having it. Though as most full TV providers do not have OAN, then a streaming app for it would be needed most places you go anyway.

I respect "reading between the lines", but if you go too far then all you get are assumptions and guesses and impose your own feelings from the context above simple fact. Yes, a lot of other factors would suggest the reason why DirecTV/AT&T has made this decision. I do not deny that. What would be helpful if they made a clear, even if simple statement, on the actual reason beyond just simply "internal review".

I want to make my displeasure that Direct TV is planning to drop OAN.  That is the ONLY news network I watch.  When it goes I will find another carrier.

Evidently everything I have posted has been "migrated", without ANY notification to me ... the paying customer, including my posts to the DirecTV Streaming thread.  (That's not anything short or censorship.)

I understand what "grandfathering" means .... I've been in Fortune 50 corporate I.T. for years.  AT&T has given me zero information as to when they will discontinue my U-verse, regardless of having requested that information multiple times.  Their other offerings are lacking however, and their political "pick winners and losers" and Cancel Culture participation is making them unpalatable overall.  Why people cannot "live and let live" and have to attack with "shutdown" requests instead of just not tuning into what they don't care to watch is the question.

That said, I'm wasting my time here, as apparently I'm in the "AUTO MIGRATE to the bit trash bucket mode" on this AT&T forum.   Now they are with me, likewise.

Are you cancelling my favorite news channel OANN (One America News Network) for political reasons? That is what OANN is saying. Be advised I would consider that yet another criminal act by ATT by attacking Free Speech and engaging in Cancel Culture politics against the only network that tells the truth. It would also be an act of extreme hypocrisy since CNN and MSNBC have been knowingly broadcasting bold face lies for years. If you do cancel this network from your service I will cancel my DirectTV service as well as my other ATT accounts immediately. 

Almost all of the fake news channels have their content completely controlled by the (Edited per community guidelines) elites.  OAN is one of the last remaining un biased channels serving the honest, hardworking, regular men and women of this country.

Migrating is not censorship. They are just putting everything in one location instead of all over the place. It is an attempt to organize. I agree it would be better if you received a notice of the migration, but that unfortunately is a weakness of the forum's design.

Migration is needed so that others who have questions or topics besides OAN can be seen instead of lost with everyone starting a new thread for the same darn topic. But yours was migrated incorrectly as a thread from 7 years ago is not the current topic.

They are not going to tell you when U-Verse will end before all the other customers. It is expected that when they get to the point of an actual hard date, that a public announcement would be made. That gives you access to the answer at the same time as everyone else. Until then it continues on with the existing customers.

Live and let live would be awesome. Unfortunately, too often we see where humans fight that ideal.

We have been DirecTV customers since Primestar. Where we live, we have been locked in to using satellite services, for not only tv but also internet. Fiber optic finally came to our area three years ago. We dropped the satellite internet service but kept DirecTV. We kept DirecTV because we like the service and also the way the programming is arranged. OAN and Newsmax are our go-to channels for news. We just learned that AT&T is going to drop OANN and AWE in April of this year. Now, we understand that one customer will not make or break your corporation, but if AT&T DirecTV drops OANN, we will also be dropping DirecTV. 

Again .... "MIGRATING" paying customers comments IS censorship when you don't communicate it or provide a link to connect the comments to a separate thread .... call it "passive aggressive" censorship if that make you more comfortable.

 I am a longtime ATT customer Mobile Phones, Landlines, Internet,  UVerse then DTV.

Your choice to not renew OANN is more than just a business decision and you know it.

We  banned YT,FB,TWTR, MSM, FOX, etc Nov 2020. We don't miss them one bit.

Reconsider your marxist praxis.

If the "moderators" running this board wanted continuity in our comments or cared about their customer's comments whatsoever then their "PERMALINK" would direct us to the new thread, not be a snake eating it's own tail back to the same thread from which we've been "migrated", and "CLOSING" all of the threads to comment at the same time!
