DIRECTV dropping OANN?

@Constructive I would start looking for a new job as AT&T revenue is about to drop big time.   There are many OAN viewers who will not know what happened until the channel is gone this April… at that point, there will be a mass cancelation of AT&T / Direct TV services.  

As many of your customers have already noted, people are not going to watch Fake left wing news even if that’s all that’s available as America values freedom over communist cancel truth principles.  They will go elsewhere to find balance in order to decipher truth.  E.G Free people don’t tolerate Brainwashing.  

Directv is not renewing their contract with One America News. Why?

I can only assume it is because Directv disagrees with the views presented on that network, and has the power to remove those views from their lineup of channels.  I can see no other financial, economic, or customer viewership reason.  I have not seen any official announcement or rationale posted.

I am so discouraged that Directv's corporate leadership has taken this position and made this decision.  I can't even find an existing community forum thread on this topic.  Why?  Are all objections just removed as well.

Well I object.  I am well aware that such a small thing as a post in a community forum thread (that may never see the light of day) will make absolutely no impact whatsoever.  However, this decision by Directv to remove One America News from their channel lineup will also have absolutely no impact on those who enjoyed viewing the channel.  It will not change opinions, or have one iota of impact, whatever hope Directv leadership has by removing OAN.

It simply is disgusting to see the brazenness of corporate cancel culture play out on a daily basis, just because they think they are the elitist know-it-alls who are looking out for the moral welfare of the greater good.

Facism at its best.  Taking away (Edited per community guidelines) networks and trying for force far left media by adding more channels of them while removing (Edited per community guidelines) ones.  You will find that half of America will soon get rid of you.  If you think the far left activists can afford your prices you will be disappointed.  So soon we will all leave you when we have a choice other then satellite.  It is not your job to censor.  If it were you would have censored CNN, MSNBC and all the other far left networks for Russia Gate.  Fake news!  

We will have no choice but to get rid of them.  We have to stand for freedom whether o not you believe what they say.  We have freedom of speech at least right now.  But the democrats are coming for your voice.  If you do not believe it I suggest you start looking into all the attempts at cancelling someone anyone ie Joe Rogan they do not like.  Heck I heard MSNBC for 6 years talk about the fake news Russia.  Were they called out?  NOPE  why not directv?

@Darcy, the channel drops when the contract is up with OAN in April.  I already canceled my Direct TV and found much cheaper alternatives to get same channels I watched.  

Yes, I know when it will drop. That is when I will cancel! I was just making the point that it isn't gone yet. I was hoping that maybe if enough watched they may change their mind.

There is nothing that mandates that DirecTV carry OANN or not besides their private agreement with them. There is no violation of Freedom of Speech or Censorship. You can still watch the channel elsewhere. A private business can have whatever channels they choose.

You don't like their decision, and the perceived reasons behind it, that is fine. But don't imagine that your rights are somehow infringed upon by their freedom of choice.

And for anyone still in the dark, the decision to not renew the carriage agreement has already been made. In about a couple months, OANN will no longer be viewable on DirecTV as the carriage ends in April.

They are free to show what they want. You want to watch something different then you are free to go where you want to do so. The freedoms don't mean everything will be as you like it.

You’re right, DirectTV is making a decision and is entitled to do so. And DirectTV has customers expressing their opinion. This company doesn’t care about their customers’ opinions. Good companies do care about their customers’ opinions. We will see how it works out for DirectTV.

You know the one that auctioned some of their over the air, aka free, frequencies for millions then got picked up by PAY services far left YouTube TV and DIRECTV. While still receiving taxpayer funding. Dropping OAN and picking up a taxpayer funded far left PBS. May your stock join Twitter and CNN in the woke tank. Go woke Go broke.

@Juniper fails to accept the fact that AT&T / Direct TV made a decision to drop OAN due to pressure from far left groups.  It’s well documented:

This is all about free speech as one political party is using a big tech giant like AT&T to silence a political view they do not agree with.  Even more concerning is that this decision is being made by the same company who basically owns CNN and Direct TV (AT& T).  Next will be newsmax. YouTube is very similar as a left leaning Big Tech company: note they do not provide NewsMax or OAN in their TV package. 

As others stated, we all have the same right to cancel Direct TV for not listening to the people that pay for their services.
