DIRECTV dropping OANN?

P.S. I also have F R N D L Y T V, that is a screaming great deal. I find I watch that the most anyway. Dumping here will save me oodles.

DirecTV has the right not to carry OANN and you have to right to cancel service if you cannot stand that decision. We are in agreement there.

No matter how much you may dislike their choice, DirecTV made a decision that was their right to do so.

Nice live in clean sharp lines. Back on earth there is government tyranny and corporate fascism.  When it happens on the scale of these corporate behemoths, it is defacto a loss of free speech.  The populous living under such an unholy alliance will either create room for truth to compete or institute heavy regulation to permit more free speech.  

The issue is not the fact that Directv has the right to drop OANN. The issue is that they need to use a fair metric when deciding which channels to carry. I know there are channels with less viewers and they are not being dropped. The issue is that they are arbitrarily dropping OAN because they don’t like the content or they say it’s a danger. Well we are all adults and if one can watch a show on showtime that shows you basically how to get away with (Edited per community guidelines) then being “good or bad” is not the metric they are using. These companies are so big they need to have rules that allow one to know what they are supposed to do so they can be kept on the air. This is almost akin to the airwaves and I wouldn’t ban NPR a because I don’t agree with them and I know DTV dropping is not a ban but it essentially is a ban when cable and sat companies are what one has to use. My 90 yr old mother likes OAN but she will never figure out Apple TV or ROKU in order to watch the channel and not will a lot of people.

@maga09 very true… I got Fox Nation for that purpose.  Love Tucker as well as his originals series.  Bad part is there is no way to watch it live with Fox Nation though.  

How can you take OAN off the air because they talk the truth while leaving CNN and other (Edited per community guidelines) station which spread false news constantly is beyond me. I seriously am considering terminating my Directv contract because I feel that Directv is trying to censure free speech by terminating OAN.

I hope they are watching facebook’s stock price on news of fewer users. If you cater to only one group of two you are limiting your growth potential. I cannot see this as a business decision based on dollars and SENSE! 

Hulu is the only service I know of that has cloud DVR. I can also patch in my own dvr and not for pay theirs. I will look into Sling service as mentioned in this thread. I would like to pick my own channels alacarte but someone in the thread said this feature was eliminated by FCC and big TV.

Well the Facebook stock price drop isn't so much about the right migrating away from it - which it is - and is more about the gargantuan cash Zuckerburg has been pouring into the Metaverse, killing ROI.  It's an investor thing about cash returns, not a political statement.

Thank you for posting that for the bazillionth time. The problem here is that DirectTV IS NOT making a business decision on their own, they are reacting to a M O V E O N . O R G petition in which a bunch on the left is demanding that a voice on the right be shut down, and DirectTV is obliging that tiny group.

The right never does this. The right believes in free speech.

But when the left sees something they don't like, they want to shut it down, burn it down, and ban everyone from doing it.  Similarly, if they see something they like they want to force everyone to do it.

THAT is the issue. YES DirectTV can do what they want - WE GET IT and NOBODY HAS SAID OTHERWISE.

The right is just tired of the left temper tantrums constantly screwing everything up.  And the right is fully entitled to being sick and tired of that garbage.

P.S. And it would be SO NICE if DirectTV could - for once - be the adult in the room and tell M O V E O N . O R G to just go mind their own business, and turn the channel - that is what the right always always always is told and does - if you don't like it, just turn the channel, you don't have to watch it, let others have the content they like.

But OH NO - if the content is EVER favorable to the right, it is shut down, attacked, sued, even physically burned down and destroyed, perhaps even imprisoned.
