DIRECTV dropping OANN?

How could you bow down to the WOK cancel culture demands to dropping OANN?  They do not lie!  The "big lie of the 2020 election" is absolutely true. There is mountains of evidence of the election steal. All the misinformation comes from liberals not conservatives!  My husband and I will be dropping Directv if you go thru this in April. I will convince all our friends and family to do likewise. This is an attack on freedom of speech and our country. Shame on you!!!!

It's sad that we were placed in a position to leave DTV or not.  Had a fairness across the board been shown, I would be fine with the ATT decision.  However, Cnn was busted out about their making up news, yet, OANN is called fake.  If ATT wants to make the decision to get rid of fake news all across the board, so be it.  We are also being told discussion about OANN is considered a political conversation is bogus!!  Since when did the exchange of ideas and free speech become political?  However, you showed your true colors when YOU made customer opinions political.

@Catskills_Dan , yes Elmers account was uncanceled.  Even @Canceled was happy to see finally more fairness given all the #Cancel Culture.   :)

This is an honest news network.  It isn’t one sided, woke, censored to what they want you to know channel.  Just like so many other things in America these days, honesty is considered a bad thing.  You should leave it on the AT&T and Direct TV lineup.  Americans have an option to not watch this channel if they don’t want it.  But for the ones who do, we shouldn’t be made to go without.  Grow a backbone AT&T and don’t buckle to false woke people.  Be awake but not woke.

Hey friends!  So my cancellation of my DirecTV service became effective midnight last night, DONE!  Yet apparently I still have access here to this forum.  But I've made the conversion out of DirecTV because of the OAN attack, and I've converted to combination of streaming services via Roku giving me OAN, OAN plus, and much much more - I now have BlazeTV, InfoWars, plus all the other channels I cared about - HGTV, Hallmark (all three - Channel, Movies and Mysteries, Drama), TCM, Lifetime, FYI, Disney+ (with Marvel, Star Wars, National Geo, more), Britcoms, local news, Newsmax, COZI, TV Land, UPTV, A&E, more more more etc. etc. etc. - and Amazon Prime - saving money and getting more, loving it!

Good luck everyone!

With all the complaints and people dropping Direct over them severing ties with OAN, is Direct still going to drop the channel in April? Because if the answer is yes they will, I too will be cancelling after 20 years with them!

Note: This comment was created from a merged conversation originally titled OAN being cancelled from DirectTV?

They will probably move your comment over to this thread: https://forums.directv.com/conversations/community-lounge/directv-dropping-oann/61e2fc1ff693d71b8f6f5cac?page=74

We have been talking about this for over a month.  Get your plan in place like some of us are doing or have done, as it appears OAN will not be on DirecTV as of the beginning of April.

@litzdog911

I was looking at the original posts in this thread and found you from 5 months ago.

You said:

"Just because you don't like OAN doesn't mean you can dictate that nobody should be able to watch it. I'm sure lots of OAN fans would love to see DirecTV drop CNN and MSNBC. To each his own. If you don't like it, don't watch it. It's that simple"

As you know, I'm an OAN fan.

Yes, you're right, I watch what I like and skip over the ones I don't. I pay for CNN, MSNBC, etc. in my package but have never asked for their removal. It's just understood that they are part of the deal. To each his own is a true saying.

I don't care that they are on DirecTV. I just don't watch. (well not often, anyway)

ATT should understand that they are losing customers from more than DTV because I get their UverseTV, Internet, landline fone service, and was considering their mobile service. All these services are now subject to cancellation.

Roku TVs are dirt cheap during tax return season.  OANN app is free on your phone and $4.99 per month on Roku.  Just sayin....

@Catskills_Dan Thanks for pointing out that DirecTV had dropped RT. I just now read that RT is shutting down their US operations entirely.

One observation, and this isn't intended for you, because you were just reporting what happened, and I benefited from your report, so thank you.

But an observation for others in general: those of us who advocate free speech should not be celebrating the shutdown of RT. I am not. I see RT in the same category as CNN and MSNBC, two stations I used to love but that I now see as vehemently and subversively anti-American.

Which raises an interesting paradox on full display in front of us right now. Only in America are we expected by the MSM to defend and honor the patriotism and protection of culture of Ukrainians while condemning patriotism and protection of culture at home.  We are expected to passionately defend Ukraine's protection of their borders while condemning those at home wishing to do the same here. We are expected to marvel at the average Ukrainian citizen defending themselves with weapons while simultaneously attacking and prosecuting those in the US who prepare for the same situation.

Only in America.

My time here might be limited folks, my cancellation of DirecTV took effect at the start of this month. My best to you all, including @Juniper! (And yes that is a sincere wish!)

Stay safe my friends.

@gabesmama not sure how you feel about cancelling DirecTV in lieu of them not renewing OAN's contract come April but if you sign up for KlowdTV, you can get OAN for $2.50/mo.  There is also OANPlus, which is a rebroadcast of programs from the past week that you can watch.  Some may choose to keep DTV and watch OAN elsewhere, some of us in this thread are looking to or have already cancelled DTV.

I have called and talked to Customer service and informed them when DirecTV drops OAN I will be dropping DirecTV as well. I am using the time to makes sure I have all the channels I like available through other streaming services. There are some adaptations I will need to make since I have had DirecTV for around 10 years.

I suggest before just dropping DirecTV to find, obtain and set up others to make the change easy. The dropping of OAN is scheduled for the end of March or 1 April.

I surely dont need to get OANPlus. OANN shows shows over and over for a week as normal operations. PlutoTV and Amazon firestick with NORA covers all the channels needed for half the price

@ahwhite I only brought up OANPlus since it's a free channel.  I have PlutoTV and NoraGO set up on my Firestick already (using VuTV+ on NoraGO).  My problem right now is clearing off my DVR and getting local channels.  I have an HD antenna and TiVO OTA DVR on order for that so once I get that up & running and clear out my DirecTV DVR, I'm good to go.  I also realize with the streaming channels that most of what I record now I can simply watch a few days after its airing since I don't watch them in real time anyway.   I have the lowest DTV package in my area and I'm paying $113/mo, have had to sacrifice the loss of LMN in Choice two years ago plus the adding of Regional Sports Fee, so I dropped down to the Entertainment package but now that they are dropping OAN, I've had it & am making these changes myself.  I may hold on to the end of March, still haven't decided when I'm cutting them off but the wheels are definitely in motion!
