Dropping channels from a bundle

Is the any way to drop channels from a DirecTV Stream bundle?  Specifically, OAN. It is a problem for me to support an organization that routinely presents lies and untruths.

@Catskills_Dan I did not but I go in there and delete stuff regularly and when there are a lot of them, I just delete them all so it's possible that I had it and it's now gone!

@ahwhite since they closed out our other thread, I just wanted to say that I am recording my morning news on the TiVo and I believe I set up some other OTA recordings.  I haven't checked it in a while since I'm still using the DTV dvr.  I will have to check on it, as well as delete recordings that I have already viewed.  I may also add frndlytv and pay for the whole year up front.  Still gotta work it out and of course I'll add or subtract subscriptions as needed.  So far I have KlowdTV and VuTV+ using NoraGO so there are two ways to watch OAN live, plus the free version on Pluto.  I'm liking Tubi a lot too.  Hoping Fox News offers a way to watch without TV provider credentials but if not, oh well, I didn't watch too much anyway, even though I like a lot of their hosts.  At this stage of the game, if I am missing something, I'll just do without, same as when DirecTV cut off LMN from my Choice package (nearly 2 years ago) which prompted me to drop down to Entertainment.

With all the OTA channels and the Prime TV, Firestick, Pluto and more I am getting actually more channels and options for less than $20 a month. Add the Tivo Edge OTA system it covers everything.  FOX does offer the FOX nation for free for a year but all it is, is commentary from talking heads. I can decide for myself from seeing and hearing LIVE and un edited hearings and events. OANN did show LIVE hearings and such and from that I can determine what is and is not facts.

OANN, Newsmax and FOX as well as CNN, MSNBC and the rest all slant toward their view. By trying to stop the free access from LIVE events, (which most others dont show consistently) all it does is hide the truth from the people. 

I have learned many many years ago, if there is a program or show I do not like, I dont watch.  By trying to stop or block the free access to LIVE events only makes it more valuable to see. Just like telling a child not to do something that is what they will do. If OANN is so bad time will prove out

I think it’s very biased they DIRECTV leaves this thread open given they would quickly close a thread which asks to remove CNN.  Get ready folks, soon real news will be word or mouth as Big Tech wants you to only have one very corrupt news opinion.  I feel especially bad for those who depend on a Dish for television and limited access to broadband internet.  

@ahwhite I find most of Fox Nation lame as well.  The Tucker originals, Reagan documentaries, and a few other historical videos were great though.  Also, your comments about news sources are spot on…. One would learn a lot if they simply assessed the various slants on identical topics… One of my favorite amenities at work is occasionally seeing 4 TVs in a grid all playing a different station (BBC, Fox, MSNBC, CNN); it’s eye opening watching the same stories but with different headlines containing subliminal messages.  Given the Big Tech attack on press; It very much seems like the powers be desire to neck down the public on certain subliminal genres. 

#45 was spot on about the future… hopefully all the damage being done is reversible.

Maybe this is the true value placed on our years of patronage and thousands spent. I quote one of their ACEs that we all know:

"Sorry but DirecTV feels the value of no longer paying for OANN is worth more than the value of keeping you."

Maybe that sums it all up.

Years of patronage and however money you have spent does not force DirecTV or any other company to conform to your views. Sure it may influence, but in the end they make the decision they feel is right for the business. If they don't want OANN, for any reason, that decision is not ours but theirs.

Naturally a business must weight the value of a decision against the consumer base. Doesn't matter if OANN or another channel. They must have concluded that those who choose to leave over this would be outweighed by the value they get of no longer having the channel.

Doesn't matter if they keep or get rid of the channel as there will be a group upset either way. That is regardless of your years or thousands invested. In the end they are the business owner, not us customers.

Sorry someone from DIRECTV responded like a broken record and had zero concern for 1A freedoms.  One can almost predict what the response will be in these forums.  

Companies who ignore customers usually find themselves in trouble.  The old saying “Customer First” is as relevant today than when it first came about.  

Personally, I’m so glad that I terminated my contract with DIRECTV / AT&T.  Their internal culture which supports tactics to suppress speech has repeatedly been demonstrated in these forums.  I bet Elmer’s lips are burning 🔥 given there is so much on his mind and no way to say it.  From what I heard, he was blocked after creating a thread identical to this but swapped the term OAN with CNN.  Its been entertaining to sit back and watch the level of maturity within the company.  

As my old man says… light always drowns out the darkness and one day… the truth will shine bright.

I am not from DirecTV any more than you are. Not their employee. And one could argue the "broken record" comment is a "pot meet kettle" statement. You don't need to "apologize" for me. I am allowed to have my view like everyone else.

DirecTV may carry or not any channel they choose. This is not a violation of Freedom of Speech. They are exercising their freedoms by choosing what they will or not carry.

I respect your view that it was not a good choice to make. I don't weigh in on that point as I will let time be the determining factor.

At least most in the threads these days are being civil and leaving the toxic at the door.

Thankfully this will be over soon and those that can not take the decision by the service will be gone. It's just a channel and there are other options to obtain the content that those subscribers want.

It appears some that cry "FREEDOM!" imply that DirecTV is not allowed to choose what channels they carry or not. That Freedom works both ways. But I've seen some posts on the side for OANN that seem to think that Freedom only applies to them and not DirecTV.

Very true... but those who read the facts will quickly realize the truth has to do more with a market monopoly and collusion.  I highly encourage everyone to start with the complaint filed in the California Supreme court against AT&T and DIRECTV.   Its published on the OAN homepage along with letters from Attorney Generals and a inquiry to AT&T from the Senate.   That data coupled with the Eshoo / McNerney letter will be very insightful. 

The most alarming behavior I've seen is DIRECT TV seems to support customers rallying others to cancel news stations like NEWSMAX and FOXNEWS but shuts down anyone who brings up valid concerns about CNN or MSNBC.   I predict more channels that do not align with the extreme left will be canceled... wake up all! 

We as customers are also Free to stop lining the pockets of DIRECTV and I believe a wave already has.

No use in crying over spilled milk. The best thing for interested people do is look at their options. I dropped DTV ( both accounts) as well as AT&T. I found a wide array of Over the Air (OTA) channels and streaming options. I added a Tivo Edge OTA which is a great DVR for OTA and streaming programs. I use Prime TV and Firestick as well as PlutoTV, NoraGo, and plenty of free aps to keep you bust trying to watch all free or minimal fees. With everything I am paying less than $20 a month. Sure beats DTV costs

Conspiracy theories from the right are running wild on this thread. I wonder if they think Dtv uses (Edited per community guidelines) space lasers to give us programming.
