DROPPING OAN

Is DirecTV still Dropping OAN & AWE from the Channel programs by April 2022?

If so, I will CANCEL all my AT&T & DirecTV Accounts for Streaming, Internet & even Wireless (which we have had for 20 years)!  Very many of my friends & colleagues feel the same way & will also be canceling if OAN is removed!

Nothing has changed. Time to find alternatives.

I'm surprised that someone like

Effective sometime on Monday the 4th.  It's been discussed here for nearly 3 months, so much so, that any new OAN threads get closed and merged into the giant megathread.  There are some good ideas about alternatives if you are going to drop DirecTV.  I'm still working on clearing out my DVR (have about 7% to go now) and I'll be out before my next billing cycle starts in about 3 weeks.  https://forums.directv.com/conversations/community-lounge/directv-dropping-oann/61e2fc1ff693d71b8f6f5cac

Go ahead and cancel then. Your post, trying to leverage your "20 years" by putting it in bold, does nothing. This is a public forum, mostly other customers.

So call and cancel and move on. If any of your "friends" feel the same then they must call on their own. Your account has nothing to do with theirs.

Sorry but DirecTV feels the value of no longer paying for OANN is worth more than the value of keeping you.

Yep. So if you are so inclined you call and handle your account. Putting your money where your mouth is so to speak as opposed to what appears to be a weak threat and just throwing a tantrum.

You've been busy with that dvr. Ours has a lot on it. We'll never get it cleared out.

@Catskills_Dan it doesn't help that I will still record movies and need to watch them too!  🤣 I may have 1 or 2 older recordings left to catch up on, but my phone call is coming.  I'll be switched over to the Firestick once OAN is off DirecTV.  I believe it was @ahwhite who said Fox News is only available by using your TV subscription credentials so maybe no more Unfiltered for me on Saturday nights (definitely no more dvr'ing of it soon).  I'm also loving the Secrets of Playboy series on A&E (whose last new episode ends next week) so as long as I don't get into recording any new series that aren't on my OTA antenna, I'll be good to go soon.

I confess, most of our dvr is my junk.

I see the new CNNplus is already struggling.

"employees bracing for layoffs possibly as soon as May amid projections of lackluster sales of new streaming channel."

We're quite disappointed with their decision, too. It's been a point of contention for three months here.

We have to look into the Firestick. We may get tv from our internet/landline provider. They're actually very good considering they're a local business.

CNNplus is struggling.

Greg Kelly said, who really wants to pay for more CNN?

When someone posts mostly in bold and tries leveraging their time with a company, and implies all their "friends and colleagues" will follow suit (as if they are a leader of a mob), the perception I get is someone blustering about with no bite. I stand by "put your money where your mouth is". Unless you take action on your statement to cancel, you are just blowing smoke.

I am straightforward and blunt with my posts. I do try to keep within a simple boundry of politeness, but I do not go overboard about being "nice" as I avoid sugar coating or any unnecessary empathizing/sympathizing.

I have been watching OANN, Newsmax and also Skynews (British news). I get allot of channels on the OTA channels. Tivo does a good job and the newer has the Auto skip for commercials on recorded programs. It also does the onepass programming so not to miss shows. There is an A&E app but I dont know if it requires cable / satellite service to stream as well which really does not make alot of sense. I a person has a cable or satellite service why stream at home? Maybe it is used on potable (tablet or cell phone). I use Pluto and a few other free streaming apps on my fire TV and firestick.

I did not lose anything but rather gained more and saved $$. Look at otadtv dot C for what you can get. I get all the major networks (ABC, CBS, FOX, NBC) as well as, METV, ION, H&I, Grit, CW, Bounce TV, Comet TV and more. Streaming so many others so cut tie DTV and enjoy the free access to what you watch
