OANN
WHY DID YOU CANCEL OANN??? (One America News Network)
If you can continue to play/stream the trash that CNN, MSNBC and other news channels play as I power off the TV, then you should offset it it by playing REAL NEWS that the AMERICAN PEOPLE wanna hear!
I bought my own subscription to OANN, and I am deducting it from my Direct TV fund so when its time to re-budget that will be considered before I cancel service

Wow, we have been talking about this for months. You can search the forums for OAN and you will see.

DTV did not "drop" OANN and AWE. They decided not to renew the contract. Personally I feel it was due to pressure from the WOKE groups and AT&T pandering to the far left wimps.
Many of us left DTV of other options and saved allot of money as well
I am an EX-DirecTV and AT&T customer. I dropped DTV because of two issues. 1. The nonrenewal of OANN and the extremes in WOKE programing. 2. The cost almost doubled for service.

This has been announced and discussed since several months ago. And has been a while since the channel is no longer part of DirecTV's lineup.
AT&T/DirecTV's official answer has been vague saying it was the result of a "internal review". As such, they decided not to renew the carriage agreement, which is their right. Many in the forum have their opinions of what encouraged the removal (monetary value, political pressure, etc.), but a transparent official reason has not been given as of yet.
Do what you must for your budget. Just at least don't try to deduct the cost of your OANN subscription from your DirecTV bill itself, otherwise you would have a legitimate past due and any consequences from it would be valid. Just mentioning as there are those over the years who have tried that and found out the hard way that they don't have to right to pick and choose what part of their bill they feel like paying.

I strongly suggest you dont think about "deducting" the OANN fees from your DTV billing. You will wind up being charged late fees on top of the billing. If you dont have a standing "contract" you can drop DTV like many of us have already done.

Just to put some of my personal observations regarding DTV vs OTA and streaming.
When I was on DTV, I had 2 accounts. the monthly total was $163 a month (discounted rates as well). Now this came to $1956 a year.
Now I have a Tivo Edge OTA which cost me $200 one time charge. and I did a year subscription of $74 (with tax). I did the OANN subscription at $4.99 a month(59.88 a yr). Now my cost is only $133.88 a year. My Prime TV come with my Amazon Prime and it is not added so it is a even deal. Seems like I am saving over $1,800. a year alone. Now with my Over the Air channels I have all the major networks as well as allot more. I found MEtv, Bounce, H&I, Grit, ION and over 32 channels in a rural South Georgia. Not near any "Major" cities. With all the streaming shows, movies and channels I am getting more than DTV. Heck the FireTV and Firestick alone can beat it.
So for my personal opinion, the streaming options far exceeded DTV. The Tivo DVR has all the the DTV had and depending on the model exceeds what DTV charged for less.
I am an EX-DirecTV and AT&T customer. I dropped DTV because of two issues. 1. The nonrenewal of OANN and the extremes in WOKE programing. 2. The cost almost doubled for service.

My understanding the OP is (at this time) not deducting from the bill, but how they allocate their overall budget. So if this reduced the budget for DirecTV below threshold, they would still pay their owed bill but would cancel DirecTV as no longer in their budget.
Though I would also review other channels watched as perhaps a lower costing package would be better anyway. Too many people I feel refuse to lower package because the don't like the feeling of loosing channels and content, even if what goes away they haven't watched in a long time or perhaps only infrequently.
