Adding New Genie Mini Trigger a New Contract?

Haven't been under contract or service agreement for years.  Husband wants to possibly add another genie mini in his workshop but I don't want to be under contract/service agreement of any kind.

We have firestick out there now but no locals for news & sports since demise of Locast.  Out in rural mountain community with poor antenna reception.

adding any "Mini or Receiver" will cause a New Commitment call 1-800-531-5000 to find out if it's 1 or 2 years

Adding another TV, no matter what kind of box, is an "upgrade". That comes with a 24-month service agreement. That has been their business model going back about 20 years.

All the agreement means is that if you choose to cancel, then you are responsible for an early cancellation fee (ECF) valued at $20 for each month remaining. Unless you plan to cancel within a couple months, the ECF ended up being cheaper than what the full retail cost was for the box (back when purchase to own was an option).
