Any retention people with authority on social media?

The people I have connected with on twiter and facebook seem ...how do i put this... are not very bright nor helpful. Any suggestions other than closing the account and moving on? I tried calling and canceling but they only offered $25 discount so the monthly bill is still over $125. I've had DTV for more than 15 years.

Nobody on social media will be able to cancel your DIRECTV account. The real way to do it is call the number in my greeting below and say ‘cancel’ to the robot. This will send you to the retention department.

You may also do a Live Chat with an agent online at DIRECTV.com/support however the agents there aren’t too bright either. They may mess up the disconnection/cancellation of your account, producing more problems. It’s just worth it to call and get it done the right way.

And realize that the retention agents will try to convince you to stay. If you don't want to take them up on any retention offers, just be firm and insist that they cancel your account.

AT&T's CEO announced a year or 2 ago there will be no more discounts to existing customers so you either lower your package or eliminate TVs.

@bakugo

There are no retention agents on social media. You have to call and talk to the cancellation/retention department as that is only done over the phone.

Sorry but bigger discounts, or discounts of any kind, are not obligated to you. If your bill is outside your comfortable budget, then it is up to you to reduce service to what works for you. Any discounts provided are a temporary perk. And those have been pulled back heavily to combat customers who have abused the privilage.

So, if you cannot afford your service without discounts, then you cannot afford it. Reduce service or cancel are your options. It is your responsibility to manage your expenses, not DirecTV's.
