While AT&T employees do look at forum posts from time to time, we are here to represent the forum with our experiences as customers and do not represent AT&T in any official capacity with our responses and do so on our own time unpaid and off the clock. As employees we are not rewarded nor compensated to participate in these forums This forum is comprised of regular customers to communicate with other customers to offer advice and share experiences same as any other user Although there is a small team of customer care specialists that monitor the forums the sheer volume of posts are simply too many posts for these agents to respond to each one of them.

This scam accessed my Direct TV account and posted payments I made with eBay cards to my account which I was able to see. Accessing my account is a security issue of AT&T as far as I am concerned. The scammers had only my phone number to access my account. I am pursuing action to get that money back as is a responsibility of AT&T to provide more security for accounts.

You may as well write that money off. eBay won’t refund you and neither will directv/AT&T. You fell for a scam

I just received this call and got an authorization number and as soon as they said “eBay gift card” the red flag went up and I told him that there are too many scams with eBay gift cards. He acted so innocent and said what? I’ve never heard of any! And I’m thinking now I know it’s a scam LOL. Came out on the Internet to find other people getting swept up by this.

The same thing (with variations) happened to me beginning July 3. The first cards I bought at Rite-Aid. Then I got text messages about a problem with my payment. Eventually I started refusing to buy any more cards, they threatened to cut off my Directtv service, and 5 minutes later my service was cut off. Impersonators did this ???

My husband got a voice mail about direct tv promo for half price so I called the number, got a woman who asked a few questions and transferred me to someone in billing who got into my account and added showtime and canceled my current payment due, told me I had to pay 6 months in advance, then told me I needed to have an ebay credit card to make that payment, when I said I didn’t have one he said I could use eBay gift cards. I asked if I could apply for the eBay credit card and he put me on hold then said gift cards would be easier. I’m supposed to call him back tomorrow with the gift cards, so I have some time to call direct tv and att tomorrow, and our local internet task force to see if there is some way to shut them down. I guess my question is how did they get in to my account and change what they did change today ?
