Billing and payment date and un-needed channels
DIRECTV keeps adding "charges" with new names. There are over 60 Infomercial channels and Spanish channels that I have NO use for and will never use. Why do I have to pay for them? Especially the Spanish channels. It's just another way to run up mu bill by "adding it" to my package. Make the Spanish channels a package on it's own. If I want Spanish I can push the button on my TV. I also want to know why I can't set my payment date to the end of the month. 21+ years of customer loyalty? Ha Ha ! You customer reps do not have a clue other than the canned speeches put in front of them. Tired of the NEW customers getting all the freebies and we ending paying for them.

I agree about the shopping channels but I also want to get rid of the kiddie channels (I have no kids) and the religious channels (I have no interest).

I think most of (if not all) that type of channel are free to Directv so we are not actually paying for them.

until the networks and FCC allows al a carte programing your stuck, perhaps streaming the individual networks programs might suit you better.
you pay for a package not individual channels.

DirecTV does not keep adding "charges with new names". You pay for the services you are subscribed to. You change services or upgrade equipment, then your charges change accordingly.
The only exception is a change from a few years ago. DirecTV used to hide the Regional Sport Networks cost in the package cost, just like how other providers still do. Then because of increasing costs, plus each region charging so differently, they itemized it on the bill based on your address. But that was around 2016. Any new charges you see should be because you (or someone in your household) changed or ordered something.
Channels are packaged to TV providers, which in turn package them to us. That is why we can not al-a-carte channels like we want. So we get variety. Alternatively you can see if the individual channels you watch have their own streaming option separate that they run themselves. Otherwise, variety is the running standard for TV providers. Until networks allow al-a-carte (doubtful they will anytime soon) than that is how the TV industry works.
There are Spanish packages. But because of the huge cultural influence in our country, then a few channels are provided with the English packages. English may be primary, but it is not the sole language dominating all others here. Spanish is a strong second.
Due date is based on your original install date, as it always has been. Day 1 service month starts. Day 2 bill produces (and paid if on auto bill pay with a credit card). Day 20 is listed due date, but as long as payment posts to the account before service month starts over then there is no late fee.
Intro offers are a temporary perk to attract business. Nobody should expect those promotions are continuing or repeatable. If level of service doesn't work for your budget, then it is your responsibility to reduce services until they are financially comfortable for you.
Newer agents from the AT&T side and increased outsourcing because Covid result in low local staffing (many call centers closed temporarily because of restrictions). So following scripts is what AT&T requires to try and minimize bad information going out. Even if not scripted, doesn't mean they will give you the answers you want as the service still works the same way.
So change the package to one that best fits you. If there are new charges on the bill you weren't expecting, perhaps post them here and others can give guidance if you don't understand them.
Otherwise if you are so displeased with the service all around, and don't want to work within the options available, you have the freedom to go elsewhere.

"Expert", huh ? More like a (Edited per community guidelines). Don't try and tell me what I have a don't have with DirectTV and the problems I continue to experience. AT&T must pay you well. Now go away.

@Jakey
I explained how their billing works. If you are seeing "new charges" often, then something is going on with your individual account as that is not how they operate.
AT&T doesn't pay me at all. I don't work for them. I am simply an experienced customer, been around the block long enough to not make wild accusations or assumptions.
I will not "go away". This is a public forum and I will participate in any discussion I choose, as is the intent of the forum. You may not like my responses, but they are said honestly with an attempt to help or at least provide perspective.
So what are these "new charges" you say just keep appearing? Details please and perhaps some clarity can be found.

I agree with the unnecessary shopping and infomercial channels. I believe directv or att get money from them for allowing those on their lineup. If that is the case, then they are making enough money to give us free cable tv. And sooooo many commercials on all the channels! Streaming tv is better and no commercials. That is worth paying for, not directv with commercials. Cancelling my directv as soon as I can get the on the phone.

No TV provider is paid enough by any public interest or shopping-only channels to give free TV to all their customers. What that actually does is help cover the costs paid to the network owners (like Viacom and Disney). If TV providers didn't have that, and channels they do pay didn't have advertisers paying for time slots, then our bills would be that much higher.
Streaming providers pass the buck by the nature of their design. DirecTV has satellites in orbit and equipment to provide. Cable companies have equipment and hard run cable. Streaming has none of that as they rely on your ISP (and all ISPs in between) to broadcast for them and up to you to get 3rd party equipment. A lot of streaming has commercials as well. And of course they have seen price increases since their start.
Streaming can be fine for some. But there are those of us without good enough internet (if at all) to support that as our only delivery method. But the sky is for everybody.
