Cancel service after 20 years
Moving to a location that does not allow satellite dishes on the building, so will need to cancel my current service. I do not have a contract have been a customer for over 20 years (have been in this house for 14years) received whole house several years ago.
I have an HR54-700 and 2 genie mini’s C51-500.
I am assuming this is all that will need to be returned.
if I want service to stop on a specific date - say Aug 10th - can I do this ahead of time? Or do I need to wait til that day.
Our current billing period ends 8/4 - would I be better to cancel it for that day?
thanks in advance

It’s against federal regulations to deny you to install a dish.

Per Federal regulations, you cannot be forbidden from having satellite service. Per OTARD you may have service by having dish put in an area under your control (i.e. personal balcony) as opposed to a shared space.
Having service for over 20 years has no bearing if you have a service agreement or not. However, having last upgrade of equipment (what I believe you meant from "whole house" would be upgrade to the Genie and 2 Mini Genie Clients) several years ago most likely means out of service agreement as it would have been 24 months of active service since that upgrade.
You cannot stop a certain day anymore. As of a couple years ago, final bills are no longer prorated. If your service month is 7/5 thru 8/4 then last day of service would be 8/4 no matter when within that you cancel. Though make sure that 8/4 is the end date, not the start date or statement (bill produced) date so you don't end up paying for another month.
Hope you didn't replace any HDDVRs (HR20 thru HR24, or special R22) with that last upgrade as those work with the Genie and as such are better than Mini Genie Clients.
If you still cancel, here is their current return process. Just make sure that service is canceled before sending back and keep receipt showing shipper took possesion.
