cancelled service

Last week I called to cancel my Direct TV service. My rate went from $50.00 to $91.00 a month. The lady on the phone was not interested in helping find me a more affordable plan. I have a very basic plan, no extras. No late payments ever. She simply said she would take care of the cancellation. Is there any way I can keep the service at a more affordable rate? I am a widow and have an average paying job. I can't afford $91.00 a month.

Thank you.

Debbie

directv no longer extends discounts to existing customers being you have the lowest package with no extras you might look into an over the air antenna, the phone rep cant give you whats not available

Your discounts ended. Those are temporary perks, not a permanent way to afford the service. So the $91 is a normal bill for package cost, TV fees, and receiver services.

I'm guessing you are on either Select or Entertainment. There is one package below those which is Family. With receiver services it would put you in the ballpark of $60 for a single TV household. Depends on exactly what your full services are of course so that is just an estimate. (The $29.99 listed is just the package cost itself): https://support.directv.com/dtv-programming/3245

Pay TV is luxury entertainment and charges accordingly. If you cannot afford it then you reduce services within budget. If the Family package doesn't work for you, then canceling is your only option.
