CENTURY LINK OFFER NOT ACCEPTED BY DIRECTV

Through Century Link I got an offer for a free month  of DIRECTV, as I didn't get what I was looking for, I decided to cancel it two weeks after they installed it. Now DIRECTV is asking me to pay for a fine of $600 because I got a commitment ??? and a contract ???? for 24 months. I have the chat with the name of the person that offered me one month for free, copy of the chat is attached.

No, I didn't sign nothing. And I have received offers from other suppliers in different fields, that yes let me know about their product/service and decide if I really want it. As I said I do not even used it once and that's why I decided to cancel it after two weeks of installation... and found that what they want is my money. Even if they ask me for a month of service, $100 I won't be feeling robbed as I am .

at some point you signed something otherwise the installer would not have installed it

All DirecTV intro offers come with a 24 month service agreement. This is shown not only in the fine print of advertisements, but the order confirmation from DirecTV. It would also be on the tech's handheld, as the tech needs your signature to verify order complete so they get their proper pay.

The ECF is only waived if you canceled within 24 hrs of install. After that it is valid and valued at $20 for each month remaining of your 24 months.

DirecTV never offers a free month of service, so that chat agent told a whopper to get a sale. And like other providers, including CenturyLink, the month is not prorated. They went to flat monthly billing as has become standard in their industries, so you pay for the entire month of service regardless of how many days into it you choose to close the account. If that chat was through CenturyLink then you will need to submit a complaint with them. But if a 3rd party reseller of CenturyLink and/or DirecTV, then you would complain through the 3rd party instead.

You did something on the handheld otherwise the tech doesn't get payed, doubt that they wasted their time installing it.

Umm you already know it but never knew it before? That seems to contradict itself.

If you "didnt sign nothing" then you signed something. Yes I know what you meant, but details do matter in a situation like this.

Somebody would have had to use a touch screen pen or swipe their finger over the handheld data device therby signing it as that makes sure the tech gets paid. But because of multiple ways you are informed (fine print of advertisements, order confirmation, and tech handheld), not simply sales' agent informing you, it is in their Terms of Service that activating equipment is your final acceptance of their ToS.

So DirecTV has done nothing wrong. The sales agent needs to be held accountable, which is either through CenturyLink or likely a 3rd party reseller they are employed through. That may need a BBB/FCC complaint.

But DirecTV will not adjust anything as they have billed correctly for how their service is setup.

It is not easy to chat with somebody that has no other side than AT&T.

My sentence said, I DIDNT SIGN ANYTHING, NEITHER KNOW THEY DO NOT OFFER 'SAMPLE" for free for just a few weeks, so you decide what you want to get.

And I am not lying, I DIDNT SIGN ANYTHING, neither in a paper, nor in a touch screen.

I do not want no more answers from you, thanks.

I installed directv for years and I guarantee that I would not have climbed that ladder without a signed work order be it paper or electronic that how I got paid.

Tech is required to get somebody to sign the handheld for work to be done. That is how they are paid. So if you didn't sign, someone else in the home did so.

But regardless, all the other notifications means DirecTV has done everything correct according to the order. Your complaint is through whomever that chat agent works for, which would be either CenturyLink or a 3rd party reseller.

This is why I make sure to order directly though a company as 3rd parties, even partner companies (i.e. CenturyLink) have agents who at best are not as informed on the service (since not company trained) or at worst will say anything to make a sale.

Do you live alone?  You keep saying "I" didn't sign anything.  Is there another adult living in the household that could have (or would have) signed for service?

Without knowing what was said or did....

I would take Through Century Link I got an offer for a free month  of DIRECTV to mean one month of service free out of 24 month agreement.

Which month should have been listed.... but once installed for more than 24 hours, you have a 24 month agreement with $20 per month early termination fee. It took you 2 weeks before cancelling, way after 24 hour initial period.

Did you receive email confirmation of order? If yes, did you read it?

Did the installer perform a walk thru and discussion before starting work with either you or an individual 18 or older at time of arrival?

ATT has a $5000 hiring bonus for certain positions... that does not mean hired you receive $5k after first day or first week or first month.... it means at certain time periods if complete the requirements will receive $2000 after 90 days, $1000 after 6 months and $2000 after 1 year for a total of $5000. Do not meet the requirements do not receive the money.

What was the offer from whoever for one free month... maybe after completing 1 year of service (when discounts would be ending months 1-12) that month 13 would be free? Can you provide an online link to the offer you received to check the fine print?
