Chat fraud
I was told my directv bill would be brought down from $97.98 to $55.99 per month by a gal named Kim on Chat. When I got my bill this month, nothing changed. She lied. I called ATT and Victoria was wonderful, trying to get to the bottom of this. After investigating what happened,"Kim" on Chat tried to lower my plan to the Family Plan and take off my $8.99 protection plan WITHOUT TELLING ME! She obviously wasn't successful. I would have lost over 100 channels! Just POOF! I magically got your bill down $45 freaking dollars! I'm (Edited per community guidelines) someone would try to do something like that and not let you know. If you want proof..... the Chat ID number is (Edited as per community guidelines). You can read the chat for yourself SUPERVISORS!! I hope you teach her how this chat works...because she clearly wasn't trained well. Being a long-time customer, I've been compensated for this, but I'm still disappointed and don't want anyone to go through this....CALL! DO NOT CHAT!! Stay safe!

Their CEO announced months ago that discounts were pulled back. They are addressing a concern of having too much in discounts given out in the past, resulting in customers operating at a loss.
So now the option is to reduce service until within budget. However, the chat agent doing so without telling you was very wrong. I agree that support should be over the phone. Because of all the bad info given out in chat this year (from what I have read in other posts), I wonder if chat is outsourced. And others with the "employee" tag mentioned that call center agents cannot see chat transcripts, only see what changes have been made (or possibly submitted, but not successful).
Packages and their lineups have changed over the years. So I would review to see if the current one is still your best, or perhaps one down might suit you better. Always good to be sure. https://www.att.com/channels/directv/

This is a public forum of other customers. Remove your phone number. That is how you become at risk for identity theft.
Customer support doesn't call you. If you have an issue, you contact them. However, DirecTV does have a way to submit the dispute online since their identity theft team works more traditional hours: www.directv.com/notmyaccount
You will also need to dispute through the collection agency as they own the balance.
