Clear my name!!!

This is not a case of fraud/identity theft.  So please don't tell me to go to the '"not my account" link who ch requires a police. This isn't a police matter.  It is incompetence on the part of Direct TV.

Though I've never had an account with them, I learned from Direct TV that a person having my same first and last name has a 16 year+ old balance with Direct TV, which prevents me from getting services from AT&T. 

Eric, the AT&T agent who investigated this was able to learn from DTV that: they either never had the Social Security or Driver's License number of the account holder, or they've lost it over the 16 year time period.  Therefore, I can't  prove with my IDs that I'm not the one who owes them money. 

This lack of ID verification means that no one in the world with my name can get an AT&T account, either.   

I'm sure this ID failure by Direct TV has affected more than just myself. There must be a solution somewhere.

I've spent endless hours in the phone.  No one knows how to fix this.  Please tell me how to get my name cleared.
