Costly
Are there any kind of discounts for seniors or for being a customer since you started? It's gotten Soo expensive so before I cancel service I was curious if there was anything I could do to lower my bill.

Actually, they did for a very short time offer a military discount if you also had wireless service.
@candicediane76 There is no senior discount but when you call to cancel, it is very possible they will offer you a loyalty discount to keep you from cancelling. If they do offer a discount and you accept, it will probably be for 12 months.

Lower you channel package or remove TVs as there are few if any discounts and DTV has never had any group discounts. When you call to cancel you can ask if there are any discounts.

Discounts are few and far between, but not impossible. Call DirecTV to discuss your account. Just remember, any discounts are temporary. There is no permanent discount.
Review the channels you watch and see if a lower costing package would be a better fit.

That military discount on DTV was offered by AT&T not from DTV

Thank you Soo very much for your insight! My dad is in his 70s and he wants to cancel because of the price now. Very limited income, and I really don't want him to lose the only entertainment he has now. Moms gone and the television is the only thing hes got ya know?
I thought if I could find a way to lower the bill he might keep on.
I can't afford to pay for it or I most definitely would.
I'll try your suggestions. Thank you for taking the time to offer the advice everyone, you're fantastic.

There is still the free OTA channels in your area all you need is a digital TV tuner and an OTA antenna.
