debit card charged 2x

made one payment on line. later in date checked on-line bank account.  Direct TV deducted 2 payments.  One of those payments was an unauthorized deduction.  Illegal.  Also, tried to remove my bank account info and debit info since unauthorized deduction issued, and website does not allow bank information to be deleted, only updated.  Now feeing captive of my personal, private bank info.  Direct TV where do I send notice of this unethical, illegal practice?

You have to call 1-800-531-5000 to dispute the second charge.  Your bank may help reverse the change but usually a Debt card is viewed as the same as cash so maybe not.  You agreed to keep a valid payment method on the account when you ordered DTV.

Hi, @ccruz. We're sorry about the two payments deducted from your bank account. If you suspect your account was used without your authorization, file an identity theft claim and our fraud team will investigate: DIRECTV Fraud Resources | DTV

@ccruz

A double payment would be an error, not something malicious on purpose. Call DirecTV to dispute it. (used to be an online form, but since AT&T sold off their part in in the company I haven't seen a new link for it yet).

DirecTV requires a valid payment method remain on file. You cannot just remove, so option is to replace with a different valid payment method. There is no illegal practice about this as it is in the Terms of Service. You cannot start service without a valid method to begin with.

Yes an accidental double payment is a problem. But not to the extent to try to call everything illegal.

Seems the AT&T dispute form has DirecTV listed in the drop down options. Eventually DirecTV should have their own separate one again, but here is the support page for as long as it is valid for DirecTV as well.
