Direct tv and att separating

To whom it may concern my name is (edited per community guidelines). I have been a loyal customer with AT&T and DIRECTV for 15 years now I was under the impression that I was grandfathered in because I was told that multiple times by multiple reps and that I would have HBO for free for the rest of my life And ever since now being told that I’ve been paying $15 a month and I’ve trusted them enough that I just pay my bill over the phone. I would like somebody corporate to contact me. The reps were very helpful and respectful, but they can only do so much and go back and credit me three months and only can see back six months and I would like to speak to someone corporate about getting refunded back as long as I’ve been paying this please if you can, please contact me that be great

sincerely,

(edited per community guidelines)

The only way to contact corporate is to file a BBB complaint.  Not sure what you are saying, all grandfathered means is you have a channel package that is no longer available to new customers and AFAIK no channel packages include HBO for free.  This is a customer to customer forum so no one will contact you unless DTV help sends you a PM/DM

@Megryan500

You want to discuss with DirecTV it is up to YOU to call them. Posting in a public forum doesn't change that.

No matter how you pay your bill, it is your responsibility as a consumer to READ your bill. At the very least be aware of the amount you pay each month so if there is a difference (say $15) then you can stop and review it and discuss any concerns in a reasonable time. Otherwise just paying months on end you are telling them you've accepted the billing as it is.

The alternative at this point is for YOU to file a BBB complaint. This goes to upper management and normally gets you contact from their Office of the President (corporate) within a few business days. Not a guarantee that you get a refund, so be prepared for their answer to stay the same.

As a note, grandfathered is not a price lock/price for life situation. It only means you have an option (usually programming package) that isn't offered anymore. The cost and what is in that option can still change.

Hi, @Megryan500. Thanks for reaching out. In August 2021, DIRECTV became a separate company from AT&T. You can read more information about our separation here: https://www.directv.com/insider/directv-becomes-a-standalone-video-business-following-an-agreement-between-att-and-tpg-capital/ Let's meet in DM to check your account further and discuss everything else. Thank you for everyone’s suggestions. I will go to the BBB. I still feel DIRECTV should make this right. I have had DIRECTV for 15 years and everytime I had a increase in my bill I would call and they would tell me it’s not HBO causing it as when you signed up it was included free in your package. Management at DIRECTV should handle this in my opinion. Especially for what I pay a month for basic channels.

Since 99% of the programming on HBO is terrible I wouldn't get too wound up. I would much prefer to have Turner Classic Movies.

If HBO is not worth it, then remove it.

DirecTV has had a 60 day billing dispute policy. Though in practice that is usually the last two bills and the current cycle, it sounds like you are beyond that. If so they have no obligation to give you any money back. But certainly give the BBB a try and see what it gets you.

No matter what is said over the phone, read the bill as that gives you full breakdown and explanation.

I would also review your channels. There is no official basic list as what is "basic" is different for each person. Perhaps you can go to a lower costing package. They have options as far down as the Family package for $29.99 (before receiver services, TV fees, etc.).
