Direct TV and Costco
On very busy days..Direct TV employees can attack you in Costco. Do never fall for it..never. They promise a cheap rate...for a 2 year contract..the first year...is OK..the second year..will be over 50 % more! Who reads the fineprint on a Saturday when you are shopping...for me it is close to a scam!

They are not Directv employees. They are either independent resellers or Costco employees. Granted, the 2 year contract but 1 year price guarantee are standard but Directv is not responsible for their aggressiveness.

DirecTV intro offers are 12 month discount, but 24 month service agreement because of value of equipment. Later upgrades of equipment are 24 month agreement as well.
Those are NOT DirecTV employees, as DirecTV doesn't have any physical locations of their own. Those are 3rd party sellers that send new orders to other companies, which typically in Costco would be the dealer "Smart Circle".
If you don't have time to read the fine print, then don't get it. Also the order confirmation DirecTV sends upon receiving the order would clearly list level of service, amount and length of discounts, service agreement, etc. It is up to the consumer to be diligent and read what they are signing/agreeing to.

Technically..you are right..but then...these sellers are very experienced, agressive and they know how to catch you. They do their job on ( your) busy day..you came for other things, not for a Direct TV account! And teading the fineprint at home...that comes after signing a contract. Again, you are right in what you write, but a warning should be still be in place: if you are looking for a TV contract..better to go to an ATT shop..and take your time..or do it online...and let them send a proposal before signing a contract.

In person sellers, especially 3rd party, really haven't changed in hundreds of years. Too many say anything to make a sale. All providers use these 3rd party sellers. In the end it is up to the consumer to be diligent and read the paperwork.
Service agreement doesn't start until service is activated. So you still have time before the actual install to verify the info.
Warning in place is the same as everywhere. Buyer beware and don't sign without reading.

Sure...again..for focused, smart customers looking for a good price for a tv provider..this is what should be he happening ( by the way, a lot of those customers would become cordcutters with a very valid set of arguments),but the fact is: impulsively buying a extra pair of sneakers is of a different pricerange than signing a 2 year contract for a tv provider. And yes, you have ways to get out of it..not everyone is that savvy. Rest my case: think twice..before impulsively fall for these agressive sellers.

So this is how this so called forum works..everyone posting a not positive massage here gets an answer that is definitely and without remorse of empathy defending ATT. A lot of times by ( semi-) professional friends/ supporters of this company. In the long run...it will not help ATT...250 thousand cordcutters in 3 month are a result.

Been a consumer long enough to understand how the reality of those aggressive sales people work. And have learned to always, ALWAYS, read the paperwork no matter what is said.
I would give this answer anywhere, not just AT&T/DirecTV forums. If consumer refuses to read, then fault is theirs. And cord cutting would not save you as not reading means you've agreed to everything they wanted no matter where you go.
Learn from this experience or continue to allow yourself to become victim from other companies. Providing more empathy will not change what happened. I may be blunt, but I respond honestly trying to keep the reality of the situation in perspective.
Not a "professional" here as I do not work for AT&T/DriecTV. As stated I have been a consumer long enough to see the harsh reality here.
