Direct TV box taken without warning

I rent attached a guesthouse with additional utilities are paid including Direct TV. 3 weeks ago a Direct TV tech came to upgrade. He said each box must now be under a separate account and came in and took my box without a grace period or warning. He treated me as if I was stealing cable. I asked if he could transfer it to my name and leave it. He said no and I need to set up a appointment on my own. He was very rude. Besides being very bad business practices I am not even sure if it is legal to do that to someone.

Each residential address must be a separate account, but if the guest house is just an external building on the same property (same address), then it shouldn't be an issue. Tech taking box without your permission though is very wrong as that is not the job of the tech. They only take a box if it is replaced with another (upgrade, warranty replacement, mpeg swap).

This is a public forum. You will need to call DirecTV and submit a complaint on that tech as when they did was very wrong.
