Direct TV debt held by ERC with no mail notifications sent

I have a minimal debt to Direct TV that I argued when my acct was cancelled,$98. Now I have this ERC calling me to collect the debt. I’ve decided that I would just pay it, not worth arguing. However, I’ve told ERC multiple times that I’m not paying anything over the phone, I’ve been scammed before. They need to send me something in the mail and they have yet to do it. Can I just contact a person? Preferable someone not in India?

ERC now owns the debt.  You will have to deal with them.

Once DTV sells the debt to collections you deal with the collection agency.

I think they understand that ERC owns the debt. They just want an option to pay it that is not over the phone as they are concerned about being scammed.

Call DirecTV (only 1 T, not Direct TV) and verify who the collection agency on file for your account is and their contact number. That way you can pay over the phone with the assurance it is a legitimate contact.

No guarantee where agent will be located. All you can do is verify you are calling the legitimate number.
