Direct Tv never cancelled my service.

Direct Tv never cancelled my service after I called them back in Dec 16 2021. The agent who took the first initial call ever tried to lower the bill but we cancelled because we got another cable service. I noticed I started receiving emails stating I owed for the next bill. I called and direct tv was the worst. Could not locate my account and claimed I never called to cancel service. All calls are recorded. They can go back and check. I’m left with a remaining balance for service I wasn’t even using. Not my fault someone messed up and didn’t cancel my service. They say they will charge my card on file for the remaining balance but if they do I will do a charge back with the bank. We have been with direct tv for 20 years for them to do such shady stuff. Unbelievable.

Calls are recorded on a random bases for quality and training purposes so there maybe no recordings of your call.  DTV billing runs until be end of the billing cycle regardless of when you canceled.

Final bill is not prorated. If for example your service month was Dec 15 thru Jan 14, then you still had a full bill to pay. However, if service month started over after you called, then that would be an issue that must be resolved over the phone.

What are your service dates? And what are the dates of the bill received? That will confirm if you were billed correctly or if service continued.

 All calls are recorded.

Not true. Calls MIGHT be monitored/recorded randomly for training and quality purposes. There is no guarantee. And agent over the phone has no access as would be for their supervisors. You can certainly request from a supervisor to see if such a call is available, but there is no promise there will be one.

This happened to me. We called to cancel and asked specifically when the bill cycle would end. The guy told us July 14th. I then asked if I would need to call back on that day to cancel. He said no. Service would just be disconnected and we would get an email on how to return the boxes at UPS or FedEx as they would pack and ship for us. We paid the bill but no email and no cancelation of service; and a new bill cycle has started.  Based on some of these posts, I'm learning that our call may not have been recorded. This is upsetting! We cancels due to the cost.
