Directv is going to lose my business after 20+ years
I am a long-term customer of Directv. I called for the "loyalty department" to request an expired $25 promotion credit be added back on for another year. During the entire conversation the agent did nothing but try to upsell me to different channels or to a new system. I repeatedly said all I want is the credit reinstated. After a very lengthy conversation she told me no credit could be reinstated and directed me to the Perks program. I did check that out and it is absolutely worthless. After the holidays I will be exploring options from other providers.

Not surprised. TV providers like DirecTV are losing money. The days of generous discounts are over.

The $15 bill credit provided by the perks program is better then nothing.

Agents are required to upsell as is part of their job. I agree too many go overboard, as traditionally in these positions they have quotas or the like. I don't mind if they verify if the setup is working for me or perhaps suggest an upgrade if I have a TV with a box that doesn't get all the benefits of the others. But a good agent knows when to move on.
As for the credit, well they aren't always available. After a financial review it was determined that too many were given out. They are temporary perks, not a lifelong entitlement. Review what services you are subscribed to and see if anything needs to be changed there, as I've heard too many people subscribe to more then they really make use of.
Certainly ask if any discounts are available. But regardless, plan on full cost for your budget. If that doesn't work for you, reduce service or go elsewhere.
This is a public forum of other customers, not DirecTV support or an airport. So telling us you are departing doesn't change the situation. All we can do is give guidance on the reality of the situation. Up to you to mange your costs and budget, not the companies you subscribe to.
