DirecTV is too expensive
When I received a phone call from your representative asking me to subscribe to more channels, I told him that I already pay far too much for your service. At that time he told me to contact the Loyalty Dept. My monthly bill is $179.52 for XTRA. This is a totally stupid amount to pay for TV service. I don't want to eliminate DirectTV and get Netflix, etc. in order to pay less money. I hope my next move is not to subscribe to Spectrum which is so much less expensive. I prefer DirectTV but feel I am being pushed to the limit. I am a retired senior citizen and have limited income. Please, is there a way of decreasing the amount I pay without decreasing service? Thank you.

Nope, the only way to lower your bill is to lower your channel package or reduce the number of TVs.
AT&T's CEO has stated there will be no more discounts.

The networks charge TV providers a lot of money to be carried. That is why the cost is what it is today.
Because there were customers with too much in discounts to where they were operating at a loss, their CEO announced several months back that they would pull back on discounts. They are needing to make sure they are operating at a profit, which is a necessity for any business.
It is hoped that once problem customers have been weeded out and their finances balance out that discounts will return, though expected in moderation. In any case, discounts are a temporary perk, they are not something given permanently. So if the cost is too much for your income, then it is up to you to adjust services until they fit your budget. You can change your package at any time so can always raise back up when comfortable for you.

Direct tv price keeps going up and service is poor. I have to go online and reset my receiver every weekend because they block my local channels which I pay for. I constantly get phone calls from representatives who barely speek English to change my plan. Direct TV was great until AT&T bought it. Dish cost almost half of what Direct TV is Why. Direct TV has been my choice for years but I am about ready to change.

All TV providers have gone up in costs over the years. This is because of the networks increasing costs to them. So their costs go up then naturally our bills go up. This has nothing to do with AT&T acquiring DirecTV as this has been the case for years before the acquisition.
Having to refresh your service authorizations (what I believe you meant from resetting the receiver online, as reset is done by pressing red button on the box) each weekend is a problem. Plus you shouldn't be "paying" for local channels. Locals are included in all current packages, not a separate charge. If you have a line item for your locals then you are on a grandfathered package back from when locals were first offered which may be part of the problem (plus paying more compared to current options). What is the exact name of your package, and what are the models of each box? Does each box have the issue with locals, or just certain ones?
