DirecTV Mailing Address

I do not have a forum account nor do I have a DirecTV account.  I need someone to unattach an account from my email (carmennewton@att.net). I have contacted DirecTV several times in the last three years and apparently nothing has worked.  The last email I received is dated December 2, 2021; see below.

Expect to receive more unwanted emails. You have just given your email to the entire world. This is not support but a customer-to-customer forum.

I do not have a forum account

You can only post in the forum if you've created an account. So, posting here proves you have a forum account.

If the DirecTV account is in your name, then you submit an identity theft claim. But if it is just someone's account has your email as contact (whether a typo or someone did so on purpose to avoid bill notifications), then there is nothing that can be done as only the account owner may update the phone number and/or email in their contact info.

Juniper:  Yes, I was allowed to create a forum account but do not have a or never had a DirecTV account.  Would think that a technical company would have the ability to identify who owns the account that has my email attached. My hope was that someone with that background at DirecTV is monitoring this forum.

Thanks

Naturally they know who owns the account as there is no way to get one anonymously. But they will not tell you who that is, nor will they change contact info on an account that you do not own.

So, if the issue is somebody else's account simply has the wrong email listed, be it from a typo or something else, then all you can do is set your email to count it as junk or refuse delivery depending on your email settings as you would any other unwanted email.

I get you don't have a DirecTV account. But creating a forum account and saying you don't have a forum account was very strange.

Assuming DirecTV account is not in your name, then it is not a matter of identity theft. If you cannot simply delete/mark as junk/spam with the unwanted email, thematically similar to tossing junk you receive in a physical mailbox and move on then you could consider a BBB complaint. That informs the corporate level of your issue. Though I would be surprised if that accomplished anything, as in the end it is the DirecTV account owner who can update their contact info as they see fit.
