Directv REP RAN MY CREDIT WITHOUT ASKING
call in to make a payment of 21.53 on dtv account, and I asked rep what other promotions were out there, she put me on hold and I received a notification from Equifax about a hard inqury, I asked if she ran my credit and she admitted she had tp run my credit to check on promos. I immediately asked for supervisor. He apologized and offered my tv for 36 a month for one year. I am seriously considering an attorney for this COBC AND FCRA VIOLATION.

DirecTV only runs credit when you first apply for service, not for check on promotions for an account you already have. If they were to check what "bundling" options you might have in your area starting with an internet provider, then there is a credit check on that as that is applying for service with another provider so cannot use the existing credit check with DirecTV. Agents don't have to put you on hold to check any promotions on the account, as they check that right there with you. Sounds like that agent was fairly new to DirecTV.
Though a credit check shouldn't matter as long as you are not constantly having check done, you can still submit a dispute with DirecTV: www.directv.com/notmycreditinquiry
As for attorney, well they read your Terms of Service and see you are restricted to arbitration. Plus a single credit check may not be worth an attorney's time (unless you are willing to pay their high rates, well above what that credit check is worth).

I was a rep before and I know all about CSP...SHE DIDNT USE HER TOOLS. AND SHE VIOLATED THE FCRA. [Per Guidelines: Keep it Relevant and Appropriate].

Personally I find it an overreaction, but if worth your time and money do what makes you feel good I guess.
