DirecTV scam

I received a flyer in the mail from DirecTV saying they give it $200 gift card for the 64.99 guaranteed for 24 months. Tried to order this but they will not honor it. They only give me 100 and I have it in writing with a flyer from DirecTV.

Check the fine print of the order for any special requirements. Also see if the order confirmation you received from DirecTV shows it. If the confirmation only shows $100 then that was your opportunity to cancel the order or to discuss it. Once activated, you've accepted the order as shown.

However, if order confirmation shows $200 and you meet all the fine print requirements, then call DirecTV to discuss. If that doesn't resolve it then file a BBB complaint.

Whether there was more to the offer than you thought, or it didn't process correctly, doesn't make it a scam. Hopefully it is just an error to correct.

If you are here, you have obviously been scammed as I have.  Back in February 2024 I switched from Xfinity to DTV (bad move) and after calling the Rewards number because I am still waiting on an email with a claim number, I was told there's nothing they can do.  Hmm... really?  Just look back at when I started and give me this promised $200 reward, but they will say there's nothing they can do. They also lied about reminder emails of ending free movie channels I told them I did not want so I ended up paying hundreds of dollars extra until I finally checked my invoices. Again, nothing they can do.  If you are thinking about switching to DTV, DON'T!!!!!  Now I will cancel and not pay for the remaining part of the two years as they screwed up as this is breach of contract.

There is no contract to breach , you voluntary agreed to remain a customer for 2 year or pay a ECF of $20 per unused month.

Oh ok!  Just like DirecTV agreed to give customers a $200 Visa card, but then doesn't honor it???  It's a scam and the company has been sued over this.  Google it!  Buh bye!

Being here does not mean someone has "obviously" experienced exactly what you have. Many different situations, with many different causes, and someone could still be here to see about getting guidance (or just to vent in some cases).

If redemption of reward's card didn't complete and neither customer support or the rewards center could resolve, then a BBB complaint could be considered. This is assuming the rewards was on the order confirmation to begin with.

The free 3 months of movie channels on the order confirmation and on the monthly billing statement counting down the credit making them free (1 of 3, 2 of 3, 3 of 3) would mean no additional email notification would be required. It is unfortunate if an agent assumed (or purposely mislead) a separate notification went out in that case.

The 24 month service agreement is for the equipment and install. If you cancel they will charge you an ECF valued at $20 for each month remaining. And that can be collected automatically if you let it go outstanding.

Millions of people get DirecTV without such issues. It is suggested with any company to read the paperwork carefully against what any agent tells you, verify timeline and redemption instructions of any special rewards, and review your monthly bill (especially in the first few months when dealing with intro specials). No company is perfect as their employees are human, so it behooves the consumer to do their due diligence on their end as well.
