Directv

Why can’t I change the payment due date on my directv account. You make it hard for those of us, on a fixed income, to make a payment on the 22nd of the month. Then we have to pay a late fee. Our pay day is the 3rd of the month. AT&T doesn’t want to work with the elderly and disabled.

Due dates are based on the day the account was initially activated and can't be changed.

While AT&T employees do look at forum posts from time to time, we are here to represent the forum with our experiences as customers and do not represent AT&T in any official capacity with our responses and do so on our own time unpaid and off the clock. As employees we are not rewarded nor compensated to participate in these forums This forum is comprised of regular customers to communicate with other customers to offer advice and share experiences same as any other user Although there is a small team of customer care specialists that monitor the forums the sheer volume of posts are simply too many posts for these agents to respond to each one of them.

DirecTV has never been able to change the due date. It is based on when you activated/installed the account.

Day 1 service month starts.

Day 2 bill produces (and bill paid if on auto bill pay with a card)

Day 20 is listed due date.

But as long as payment is posted before the next day 1, then no late fee.

So it basically has about a 10 day grace period built-in.

If you cannot pay a bill until the next one is out, then you are late with any company. DirecTV is a luxury entertainment service, not a essential service (water, heat, etc.), so being elderly, disabled, low income, etc. does not matter as all customers are treated equally.

So reduce service, or even suspend for a month or two, to allow yourself to build up a financial buffer. Then put services back to where you prefer them once within your budget. Though it would be nice if they could adjust service dates, it is not their responsibility to do so.
