early Termination
If you have to cancel early because you sell your house do you have to pay an early Termination fee? We had directtv and canceled because we were on the market, it's taken a lot longer so want to air B&B until we sell.

You won't pay an ETF if you plan to get DirecTV at your new location. They provide a convenient "Mover's Package". You can even temporarily suspend your account for six months pending your move to a new location.

If you cancel while under service agreement, you pay an Early Cancellation Fee (ECF). Valued at $20 for each month you have remaining. Selling house does not waive the ECF.
You can place a Movers order to take service with you. DirecTV covers the entire country so you don't setup a new account, but move the existing one. If it has been at least 12 months of active service with account in good standing, then Movers order is expected free. Otherwise it would be $199. Free or not it is a 12 month service agreement, or 24 months if you do an upgrade of equipment as well.
If needed you can suspend your service for up to 6 months within a 12 month period. Some people use this if will not be a quick move. It is a $7 monthly vacation hold, so much cheaper than a normal bill. Remember service automatically resumes at the end of the suspend if you don't do anything, so cannot suspend indefinitely. Plus your existing service agreement pushes back by the same time as only active service counts towards it.
Now if you place a Movers order, but tech ends up not installing because they cannot get proper signal (such as trees in the way), then they close the appointment for No Line Of Site (NLOS). You then call DirecTV to cancel the account and the agent submits a NLOS waiver on the ECF. This is the only way the ECF may be waived.
