Having a hard time deciding whether to Cancel Directv
I have been having a hard time deciding whether to cancel Directv that I have had for over 30years. I have been Streaming more on the free sites. Most of the programs on the Select package are reruns which I can watch on the free streaming channels. Using my computer to mirror, I don't even need Roku or Fire. I'm tired of paying for mostly reruns. The only thing I would have to pay for are some of the news channels, that Directv has deleted or going to delete. I got the NFL ticket for free and I never watched it. Giving me the NFL Ticket was a waste, I would have rather had better programming. I could save over $1,500 year, which would help me tremendously. Any advice on which streaming service to get that has all the news channels for the cheapest price would be helpful.

You certainly have had DirecTV a long time, but not over 30 years. They started in '94 so 29 years ago.
Regarding the news channels, yes OAN last year was announced the carriage agreement would not be renewed. For Newsmax they have been discussing, but negotiations stalled. They have a big dispute over Newsmax's new cost request. But Newsmax still has a chance to return if the channel owner decides to start up negotiations again. Don't know what you mean by "going to delete" as I've seen no other notices about carriage agreement issues with any other news networks.
NFL Sunday Ticket was exclusive to DirecTV so being one of its biggest selling points. That is why everyone got it free for the first season as part of the intro offer, regardless if you would personally watch it or not. It was a natural marketing promotion, though understandably there would be the minority of customers who wouldn't care about it.
As for streaming services, that takes some shopping around for the specific channels you want. You may have to piece meal it here and there to get all you want. Some channels would be their own streaming app, not through a given service.
You could check the lineup on DIRECTV STREAM, which is separate from DirecTV. Other than that you may wish to check reviews and forums for those streaming providers as this is a forum dedicated to DirecTV and DIRECTV STREAM.

You may try Philo TV or Sling TV, both have their fair share of news channels, lifestyle, movie, etc. As far as local channels go those can be received free with an over-the-air (OTA) antenna that you plug into the back of a TV and scan for local channels.
To cancel DIRECTV you should call the number in my greeting below for satellite and say ‘cancel’ to the robot to be sent to a retention/loyalty agent. From there, all equipment gets returned to a participating FedEx or UPS store. This only includes the receiver, power cord, and remote. It does not include the power inserter, HDMI cables, coaxial cables, or any outdoor equipment like the dish, LNB, splitters, or multi switches for example.
Be sure to keep the shipping receipt that the clerk gives you when you return equipment. It is your proof of return and will help if in any case DIRECTV does not believe you returned equipment and tries to charge a non-return equipment fee (NRF).
As you know, the select package in itself is a very basic package. It excludes any sports or upper channels like ESPN, LMN, or say DLIF just to name a few. For just $25 or $35 a month, you can subscribe to Sling TV ($35/mth basic plan) or Philo ($25/mth) and likely get most of those same channels. A streaming device like a Fire Stick, Roku, or Apple TV is recommended though.

You can also take a look at the Family package ($29.99 for the package itself) to see if it has the channels you want. Another option to save costs. And you could still complement it with a streaming service if needed.

I guess to get the service that would be best for you, you would need to know the channels that you cannot live without and then go from there looking to compare channel lineups to see what streaming service or services would be the best fit for you and has all the channels you want for the best price. If you are referring to OANN and Newsmax as the deleted news channels you can watch those channels for free on the PlutoTV app or you can watch Newsmax on the Newsmax app for free and you can watch OANN on their own app but you have to pay a fee for it.

DTV has no control over what the channels send them.

According to the LA Times Newsmax and OAN where being carried for free by DTV and Newsmax wanted $1 per subscriber in their new contract.

Yes that's a dollar per subscriber to directv NOT a dollar for each subscriber that watches Newsmax. A big difference.
