Criminals?!?  Really?

Call DirecTV to cancel your account .... 1 800 531 5000. Say "cancel" at the voice prompt. You'll connect with a Retention Specialist who will try to change your mind. Be polite and firm. Be sure to ask about equipment returns and early termination fees. You certainly won't get any credit for the past year.

No cancellation would take that long. Sounds like there is more to this situation. Cancellation is fairly straight forward.

Call DirecTV 1-800-531-5000.

When you get the voice system say "cancel" which should route you directly. (front line agents must transfer you as they are not allowed to close an account).

The retention/cancellation agent as required by their job will find out why you are looking to cancel and to see what they can do to retain your business.

You still want to cancel, just stay polite and firm, and they will go over closing the account.

If you called within the last month or so and it was recorded you wanted to cancel but agent didn't follow through (or system didn't complete) then adjustment is normally expected.

Must follow correct cancellation procedure. (i.e. calling and telling front line agent you want to cancel and then ending call does not get the account canceled).

There have been a couple changes in regards to closing an account within the last couple years, so here is the new information so no surprises.

Cancelations now go through at end of billing cycle, not a specific day of your choosing. So final billing is simplified and service stays on through then so you get what you are paying for.

Any returnable receiver/client boxes are taken to a participating FedEx or UPS store (not USPS) for your free return. Keep receipt showing they took possession.
