How do I cancel my service??

I had your service through AT&T which was canceled on March 5, 2024. I moved from that address on March 1, 2024. All the equipment was returned to AT&T, at their direction, on March 18, 2024; therefore, I have had no ability to use your service. I just received your bill to my new address forwarded from the USPost office received  on 6/13/24. The post office in our area has been running behind in forwarding mail up to over 45+days. This was the only bill received from you. I checked with AT&T and was told by them that the directv was canceled by them on 3/5/24. My house on Etching Overlook has been empty since 3/1/24. Please change your charge to zero dollars since no service has been used. The  account is listed to Cliff Kimsey, my husband who has dementia, (edited per community guidelines). I tried to get your service at the retirement village but they don't allow dishes on their facilities. Please respond when this is done. Thank you for you attention to this matter.

You have to call DTV to cancel service.  DTV no longer prorates the final bill, you pay for and receive service until the end of your billing cycle regardless of when you cancel.  DTV is a subscription service so long as you have an open account you are billed regardless if you use it or not.

@cfkimsey

This is a public forum of other customers so never post personal info like your account number. Also no action will be taken on your account from your post as it is not official discussion with DirecTV. That must be done over the phone, or a Direct Message (DM) from the official forum team (which is not full customer support so options may be limited).

DirecTV doesn't prorate the final bill. So moving out doesn't get you a credit for unused days. However if you were charged for the service month that starts after you called to cancel, that would be an issue to discuss with DirecTV.

Per the FCC OTARD rule you can have a dish installed in a place under you excessive control like a patio/balcony or on the ground.
