How do I get a refund for my 95 year old mother for an account that was canceled over a year ago

My parents moved from their home to assisted living Nov 2  of 2018.  We had canceled Direct TV on that date or before (we can't remember).  Two weeks later Dad passed away, and last week I finally looked at my Mom's checking account, and noticed that she was still being charge for DirectTV service.  I've called several times, but nobody can seem to help me.  How can I proceed?

Nov 2 of 2018, as in not this month but a year ago? That is bad. You will need to call DirecTV. When you get the voice system say "cancel" to route you directly to their retention/cancellation department. If your dad was the account owner, then inform the agent the account holder is deceased and account was requested to be canceled a year ago. Unless you are authorized on the account they will be unable to discuss specifics, but they can go over if anything needs to be submitted to close the account (such as Death Certificate).

If your Mom is the account owner then either she will need to be on the phone, or if that is beyond her current capability, then if you have Power of Attorney then you can close the account yourself (may have to send in PoA if they don't already have it).
