How do I get a refund on FRAUDULENTLY added MAX to my bill by DirecTV
When looking more closely at my bill to determine why it was so high I discovered MAX on it for $16. I NEVER add ANYTHING to my services but there it FRAUDULENTLY was and has been for 23 months. Called them, not authorized to refund, transferred to customer retention, not authorized to refund, told to go to website, no drop down 'reason' menu for their $360 FRAUD committed on me.
This has happened before, DirecTV has added things before WITHOUT my consent, without remorse, without refunding.
Filed complaint with BBB, may file complaint with government agencies and court if necessary.
Time to move on to DISH or other provider...

DTV gives you 60 days to dispute a bill, why did it take 23 months?
Per the TOS you are limited to binding arbitration.

Bigger question is why did dtv add that WITHOUT permission?

NO free trial was authorized and they were told that NO add-ons were wanted, 'free' or otherwise. I even blocked their telemarketing phone number. I am fully aware of their 'free' scams and deny them from adding them for years.

Perhaps this was added by someone in your household (maybe even a free trial that rolled to cost after 3 months). Account history should at least confirm if over the phone, online, or from the remote.
However, DirecTV like other companies requires to be notified within a reasonable time if there is a bill concern. Theirs is 60 days, though in practice that has normally been the last 2 bills plus current month to date. At 23 months, so practically 2 years, you have ignored your bill for far too long.
So simple answer, you don't get a refund. By paying your bill without any questioning you have been telling DirecTV it is correct and charges accepted. At this point it matters not how Max was added. You now can chalk this up to the cost of a learning experience not to ignore your bill for so long. Even if you don't read through the full bill every month, had you at least been aware of the amount, you would have seen when it changed and could address it then.
In addition to the dispute timeframe, Terms of Service (ToS) you agreed to have an arbitration clause.
Oh and don't expect to be treated differently with any other provider. They expect their customers to read their bills too. None of them have a dispute time frame in years. So time to take personal responsibility as a consumer.

Yep, wife paid bills without the scrutiny required for these rip-offs. Shouldn't have to to watch for these is the point, we absolutely did NOT fall for their 'free' offers in any way shape or form, so don't lecture me on being added by me or my wife, IT WAS NOT.
So you excuse the company from adding on something that was NOT ordered by placing the burden of honesty to me, go figure. you sound like the 2nd level of customer retention and a shill for them. Like blaming the victim and not the thief.
After a complaint to BBB, the office of the president for DTV called me with a completely different attitude than you or your buddies in lower level customer (non)service.
I got an apology AND a REFUND of the entire 2 years of non approved charges. Proving you to be wrong and leaving me wondering how you got to be an 'award achiever', more like a shill.
It is a SHAME that it had to go to the highest level to overcome the low level level reps like you to get to some level of integrity and customer service.
For those who are not satisfied with low level reps trying to screw you, try these two numbers of the highest level people:
(Edited per Community Guidelines)
They respond to BBB complaints and have authority to fix problems beyond the care and comprehension of the lower level reps and shills.
BTW, Patty will be sending memo's to the lower level reps for being useless in resolving this issue.

This is a customer to customer forum with little contact with DTV. Anyone that works for DTV has that fact stated in a box similar to the Ace box in their posts. So sorry I've never worked for DTV. This forum doesn't allow posting phone number so they will soon be deleted.

The point was you and your wife ignored your bills for about 2 years. You are lucky this time. In the future take financial responsibility to actually read your bills. At bare minimum know the amount so if you see a change in what you are paying you can review more in detail.
There was no excuse. Pointed out the possibilities on how it might have gotten added and that the account would have record on from where it was added (over the phone with customer support, on the website, etc.).
If you had bothered to read our posts in full, or the guidelines when you signed up, you would see this is a CUSTOMER TO CUSTOMER forum. That means we do NOT work for DirecTV. My responses have been that of another customer who actually takes personal responsibility for their finances. I give no apology to people who act as if reading the bill is somehow beneath them. And contrary to your implications, we shall receive no memo as you say (dare I say "threaten").
Something added you didn't request, of course I would want the company held accountable. I also respect there being a reasonable time to dispute. Regardless of how it was added, the fact remains it was YOUR fault for being ignorant of the bill for about 2 years. The situation is a two-way street.
Enjoy your resolution, but don't expect such extensions in the future. You are sent a bill every month. They are not going to hold your hands to read it. That is your responsibility as adults. I'm sure you find this all harsh, but it is a realistic perspective of the situation.
