How to change display name on Directv account

The primary person whose name is displayed is deceased.

I need to change it to my name which is an alternate name.

How do I do this?

If you mean the account for DirecTV service. Then you call DirecTV. If you are the surviving spouse you may take it over into your name. Otherwise they are required to cancel it as it is not legal to continue services under someone else's SSN.

However, if you mean the forum account, that shouldn't have been their name to begin with. You can go into the profile and deactivate the account and start a new one, but if you are still part of any discussions I have marked it for the moderators to see if they will give you an option to just change the user name.

Thank you very much!

I am the surviving spouse and it is a lot of trouble to go through every time I have to contact them. Proving who my husband was and who I am, etc.

Thanks again, Donna Freeman

They might need you to take the DC to a corporate office to verify. But first call DirecTV, when you get the voice system say "cancel" as the retention agents are the ones to update for surviving spouse agreeing to take it over.

@Barbara75

If this is for a legal name change, then call DirecTV. Prepare they will require a copy of the name change submitted to them.

However, if like the OP you are wanting to change ownership of the account, that cannot be done unless you are the surviving spouse.
