I’m trying to cancel Direct TV

I’ve been trying to cancel my brother, John’s direct TV account since the beginning of January. I even returned the equipment via FedEx.
John DIED on Dec 31st and I’ve spent over 2 hrs on the phone with different customer service reps trying to cancel service.
Did John just get billed for another month??? Why yes he did!
Trying sending his new bill to his new address: heaven.

Take a copy of the DC into a corporate store.

Stay on them and make 100% it is canceled - get it in writing, email, something. When we needed a loan, Directv and ATT had left little "bills" on our accounts that we had no idea were there! Less than $100, but there none the less and effecting our credit scores!

Call DirecTV (their legacy number, not AT&T).

Get the voice system say "cancel", which should route you to the correct department.

Inform retention/cancellation agent that account owner is deceased.

Be prepared to take Death Certificate to a AT&T Store for verification.

Account should have been setup to cancel before returning equipment.
